I am going in May and need to buy some 5 day park hoppers and one annual pass. I am confused with the amount of savings you receive by purchasing on-line. In other words, I haven't seen a side-by-side comparison of the gate prices versus on-line. Can anyone help?

Also, regarding the AP, what is the benefit of purchasing it on-line since you are sent a voucher and have to go to a gate anyway? I'll be happy with any savings, just more curious as to how much it will actually turn out to be.

Thanks.

Hi sjw4870!

I really don't have a side by side comparison, but most discounts that you can get amount to about 5%. Oftentimes, ordering from a ticket broker is more about getting a ticket that is not sold by Disney itself ie:a 3 day hopper - than about getting a better price. Most of the other hoppers can be purchased in advance with a discount (the one that used to be associated with the Disney Club) through Disney.

I don't believe that there is any benefit to purchasing an AP in advance. I don't THINK that Disney discounts these any longer (unless you still have the Disney Club - then is amounts to about a $15 discount). And they are not available through any ticket broker.

I HOPE that this helps. :)

Beth is correct about the AP. :)

The only real price advantage to purchasing it ahead of time is to lock in the price to avoid a pending price increase. But since you're going in May, that's not a problem. If I were you, I'd save the $3 shipping fee and just purchase the AP at WDW.

For a side-by-side price comparison, there's a great page here on Deb's web site. The online prices are listed as "advance purchase" prices.

You can also purchase your tickets at a Disney Store and save the shipping fee. You no longer have to order AP's there, they have the exchange vouchers in house.
The biggest advantage to buying passes ahead of time is budget (can buy one at a time or all at once) and time saving, not having to stand in line.
