Confusing....

Some things will change after you buy.

The secret is learning the system and knowing who to talk to. That's why I refereed the OP to Member Satisfaction.

Bill,

Thank you so much for the email address. I would not have known one even existed besides the general customer service one which got me nowhere. I wish I could buy you a coffee, so here's the best I can do.... :woohoo::thanks:

One more question.....what do you suggest is the best way to really learn the in's and out's of DVC and how to best use it? Is that passporter book worth it?

Thank you!

Here and other similar places is the best way to learn the intricacies. Read the planner, ask questions, I'd even read the POS. I'm glad it worked out for you.

agree with dean.

read here. as much as you can. wander into threads even if they don't seem to apply to you directly. do some searches (if the search function is down, you can still search on google by using "site:disboards.com" without quotes). bookmark the Understanding Use Year thread as that seems to trip up a lot of people.

The problem is you were in your home resort advantage time so the only points that could be used for the waitlist were VCG. Why it allowed you to pick AKV as an option is something memeber satisfaction should look inot because the system should not have allowed you to do that.

I think you can learn a lot reading here but the true learning is in the use of your points.

Experience is the best teacher. Feel free to ask me questions if you can't find the answers here on the DIS. There are several "old" timers here who have a wealth of knowledge and tell it like it is. I see DVC as a product that can save us some money on our Disney vacations, nothing more.

+1 asking the vets here. If it wasn't for them I would have bought totally diff and have made some mistakes. We bought exactly for the reason bill said. " to save some money, nothing more". We go multiethnic times a year so it allowed us to save over the year. The years I didn't have dvc and went for 3 trips those room charges added up quick. The other perks offered just help us to save a bit more. They are gravy in my eyes. If they go away so be it. We are still saving on our room.

For me dvc only made sense cause we travel multiple or at the least once a year. If we didnt I wouldn't have bought but that's just me.

Use the vets on this board. They say it as it is. Even if its not what u want to hear. This is the reality check dvc tour I call it! Not that that's a bad thing.
