So, my family made reservations at the Crystal Palace, and they told us about the $10 per person cancelation fee if we cancel within 48 hours of our reservation or don't show up. They took my name and phone number and gave us a confirmation number, but never took my credit card information. Do we still have the reservation?

When in doubt, I would call them back to be sure.

We have eaten at Crystal Palace at least ten times and have never been told of a cancellation policy and never given a credit card. Our TA made our reservations this year (as she has done the last four years) and the only one that required a credit card was the Fantasmic Package.

I have never known then to take a credit card hold. Perhaps the CM misspoke and that's why they never asked for it.

You could always call back and make sure you still have it.

Check to be sure, but I've never heard of that. And we canceled a few hours in advance on our 2006 trip since my kids were just too beat, and it was no big deal.

I just made ressies for CP earlier this week and was not told about that policy. We have eaten there several times in the past and also were never told about the cancelation fee or policy.

thanks for the help. Sounds right to me. We had been discussing the Princess Storybook dining in Epcot before we decided to go with the Crystal Palace, so she may have just added the info. Thanks again.

I'm confused too - the WDW website says this about the crystal palace - and many other restaurants -

"A cancellation policy applies and may result in charges if you cancel with insufficient notice. Specific policies related to this facility will be detailed at time of reservation booking."

Do they have your telephone number ? Do they know where you are staying? I wonder if they are cracking down on no shows.

I made our's for Crytal Palace about four weeks ago and they did take my credit card # and did explain that there is a charge for cancelling. Same for Akershus. We're staying off site.

We did Akershus and Crystal Palace in December but were not asked for credit cards or told of a cancellation policy. The only meals we had to provide a credit card for were California Grill and CRT. But of course, eating in December, we were booking back in June. Maybe the policy changed?????????????????

We made same-day onsite ADRs for Akershus in December and the credit card/cancellation policy applied. The CM explained that it was a relatively new practice, so I don't know when it was instituted.

Crystal Palace does not have a cancellation policy. As the OP stated they were speaking about Princess Storybook just before Crystal Palace so the CM must have mis spieled the information. Crystal Palace does not take a credit card to book.

True, but if you look at the WDW website there is that new little addition for the crystal palace and for I think, all WDW restaurants-

" A cancellation policy applies and may result in charges if you cancel with insufficient notice. Specific policies related to this facility will be detailed at time of reservation booking.

I have never seen that before - I'm curious why they've added it and if they are planning on getting tougher on no shows.

Sounds like a new policy to me. We'll know soon enough.

I know they've done this in the past for certain holidays but the OP isn't there for a holiday.

I have NO problem with this possible new policy as there are MANY who hold many ADRs for a week's trip or multiple ADRs for the same timeframe, till they see fit to cancel them if at all. This will hopefully curb that selfish technique. :thumbsup2

It is being reported that CP does now have a cancellation policy.

Interesting, I wonder what else will as time goes on. I wonder if they are getting a lot of no shows?:confused3

I booked an ADR for Crystal Palace last week for September and there was no mention of a cancellation policy. She never took any credit card info or anything, just gave me my confirmation number. :confused3

I booked CP last night for an upcoming trip and no mention of a cancellation policy at all for that ressie!

I made an ADR for Crystal Palace for Sept for twelve people. We are meeting some fellow DISers there. If some of them don't show up, does that mean I'll be charged, even though some of us do show up?

Did they take your credit card number at the time of the reservation? If they didn't, and didn't explain the evidently new cancellation policy, then I can't imagine how they could charge you.

I just got off the phone with Disney Dining, I changed my ADR for CP to another date and still no mention of this. Here is a thought, what date do you have CP booked for?Could it be the nights of MNSSHP or other big events and on those dates they are requiring it??? Just a thought!
