Total FD newbie here :wave2:

Currently I am booked at POR Nov 13-18 with 4-day park hoppers for DH and me. If fall FD comes out, can I call and add it to my vacation package as long as there is availability at POR for those dates?

On another board someone said that if you're booking ahead of time before FD comes out, you need to book your room AND DDP for Disney to change it to FD if that promotion comes out later in the year. Is this the case? No one disputed that info, so I want to make sure that is the case.

1. Yes, if you have a package booked already.

2. Not specifically as noted. In order to just apply a free dining discount to a previous reservation, you must have a package reservation - it doesn't necessarily have to have dining added already, but it must be a room plus tickets package. If you have a room -only reservation (just the room, not a package) it will have to be cancelled and rebooked in order to turn it into a package, to which the free dining discount may be applied - that discount applies only to package reservations.

In addition, the resort and type of room you already booked must be available on the free dining discount. If you're booked at Art of Animation in the Little Mermaid rooms, it's most likely that no free dining discount will be available for that resort or room type. So in order to add free dining to a package reservation at that resort, you would probably have to keep the package, but change resorts or room type.

There are a few types of guest who can book a package reservation with just room and dining, without tickets - annual passholders and military. If you have one of these ticketless packages booked, you can add a free dining discount to it, but you will lose any room discount you already have AND you would have to buy at least 2 day tickets.

Now something else came to mind about adding FD to an existing reservation.

When I go to add FD to my vacation package, if prices have increased for the resort and/or park tickets, will I have to pay the difference? Obviously if I have to change resorts I would except that to be the case, but if I'm only adding the FD to the vacation package I had booked months before?

Yes. You're locked into the price when you book it, but when you change the reservation you'll be pulled into current prices. Resort prices don't fluctuate though. They're set for the year when they come out.

If you previously booked with a room discount, you will lose that rate and have to pay full rack rare. You can't stack discounts.
