Confused - when can I buy genie+ and LL

I am going on January 1 and have tickets / reservations. I bought those a few weeks ago. How do I now add Genie+ and LL?

You do that day by day once you have entered the park.

No, you can purchase Genie+ after midnight of the day you plan to use it. If you're going 1/1, after midnight you can purchase Genie+. You can start using it at 7AM, 1/1. You do not have to enter any park to purchase it or to schedule rides.

You can pre-purchase your G+ on the app I saw the option to do so but you won’t be able to purchase your LL$ till you are in the park or make any G+ reservations for return times either.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something here. You do not need to be in any park to use Genie+ or ILL$. If the OP is a Disney resort guest, they can make their ILL$ purchase beginning at 7AM from their room. If they're not a resort guest, they can purchase beginning at park opening - but do not need to be in the park.

Thought you had to be in the park to make G+ selections and purchase ILL. Can someone who has used the system please chime in?

Was just there the 8th and 9th. You must have entered the parks to purchase ILL and book Genie+ rides.

I believe what you are statin holds true for WDW. That is not the case at DL.

G+ works a bit differently at WDW and DLR. What @thanxfornoticin describes is the way it works at WDW.

DLR requires that you enter the park first before you can reserve any Lightning Lane return times.

No worries! You had me all confused. I haven’t paid attention to WDW G+ since this is our Aulani year and I haven’t paid attention to the differences of the two.

At this time, I found it stress relieving. Admittedly we were there on the 8th when things went awry, but we arrived after it crashed so we just didn’t buy it. On the 9th, we grabbed our must do for the day, GOT, and then just headed in a circle around the park grabbing the next attraction as we went. No backtracking, no hurry, just followed the path riding rides, eating festival food, and enjoying entertainment along the way. This was possible because as of right now return times are basically immediate so no waiting for the next convenient time slot. I suspect as it becomes more popular, those return times will be farther away and require more planning/decision making.

Thanks. But just so I totally understand, we buy Genie+ the same day that we are going to the park or can we do it in advance?

From the Disneyland website:

Disney Genie+ service is available for purchase as an add-on with new ticket or vacation packages before your visit, or as a single-day purchase for existing ticket holders through the Disneyland app on the day of your park visit after park entry.
