Confused about Keruig Coffee Makers..Help!

Count me as one of those people who tried the Keurig and returned it almost immediately. I prefer my coffee strong (espresso-like) and I couldn't find anything suitable in a k-cup and the my K cup thing was a bigger pain than simply brewing a strong half pot of coffee with a paper filter in Mr. Coffee.

Did you try any of the BOLD flavors?? They are hair curling strong IMO!!;)

Here is my post from the other thread:

Kohls has 30% going on right now with Kohl's Cash back. HOLIDAYGIFT is the code. I just got the Cuisinart for $139.99 with $20 in Kohl's Cash back and a $10 Kohl's gift card for Cuisinart purchases plus 4% cash back from Ebates-whew! Brought it to about $113 with our $8 tax. Most places have it for $199-$236. Costco has it for $175 with extra filters and K-cups.
The Elite would be about $77 after the 30% off and you will get Kohl's cash back too.

My ds11 has decided he wants a Keruig COffee Maker for xmas:rotfl: Well he is special... So I decided to look into it, since he loves coffee and there isnt much that he's into as for toys.

But my problem is there are like 150 different models. The cheapest ones I could find are $99.99 or so. There are also more expensive models, but i don't understand the difference:lmao: They all make only one cup of expensive, but good coffee, right?

Thanks, also, any idea on where I could find one less than $80 or so?

I just saw one at WalMart but I don't recall the price- They have a sign on it that you receive a $20 gift card with purchase so it might be worth checking!

My daughter(16) wanted one last year for Christmas too. I make coffee for myself every morning-usually have a cup walking around the house then one for the car so it would be silly to have 2 coffeemakers= got the big one from QVC last year on easy pay. it comes with a big resevoir, the insert for your own coffe(which is I believe 14-19 dollars alone) You will get tired of paying for k cups.
we use it everyday! my daughter does her hot chocolate, if I need boiling water i use it for that, you will love it.

If you end up looking for the mini-I just now ordered one from Kohls, using the discount code EXTRA20 (I'm not a cardholder, there is a 30% one for them) and got 20% off, and free shipping over $75. The mini Keurig is on sale for 99 so I got it for $80. They have colors-I got red, for my ds in college who loves red and is only allowed a coffemaker that has closed elements (unlike regular coffeemakers).

I was at Walmart this evening and mine did not have the $20 gift card with purchase sign (the mini was $89 there).

LOVE it for boiling water!!;)

DH is getting me a Keurig for Christmas, so I really appreciated all of this feedback as well! I was planning on going with the B60, but this sort of cemented it.

OP - I love that your DS11 is so into coffee that he wanted a Keurig for Christmas. I was totally that kid growing up (and it didn't stunt my growth or anything, lol). :thumbsup2

Just an FYI for those of you with kids with tree nut allergies, the ingredients for the hot cocoa K cups are milk, soy and tree nuts....the tree nuts must be part of the "natural and artificial flavors" listed.

Oh, and Costco sells a box of 80 K cups for $33...they had Newman's organic which I think is an extra bold and the Green Mountain fair trade select which is my favorite. I saw some at Sam's Club too for about the same price but not sure which brand/flavor. And I saw the Donut House brand at Big Lots, $19 for a big box of them, I remember one flavor was chocolate glazed donut, sounded good but I've never tried it so I didn't want to be stuck with a big box if I didn't like them all.

I make a cup of tea every morning. For those who haven't heard, you can take the regular tea bag and put it directly into hole that holds the K-cups. Quick and easy and makes a perfect cup of tea! (Before I was putting hot water into my cup and then steeping the tea bag--not nearly as effeicient).

The 8 oz. cup of hot water is also perfect when measuring for packets of mashed potatoes. 2 cups straight into the bowl, add the potatoes, and stir. I'm such a slacker mom. ;)

Love, love, love my Keurig!!!

Mr. Coffee now has a K-Cup brewer, Its $79, we have one as we only usually have 1 cup in the morning, works fine for that. Not really a big deal having to add water every time.

That is a great deal! I've had a Keurig for years and I love it! One thing though, to the PP who mentioned buying the Hot Cocoa cups - don't bother. The hot cocoa is not strong enough. Just buy packets of cocoa and use the Keurig for the hot water. Actually I feel the same way about tea, the tea k-cups are just not strong enough for me, so I use tea bags.

Never thought of doing that for some reason. I'll try it right now :)

Thanks for all the replies. Now I'm pretty sure Santa is definitely bringing a Keurig! With extra coffee for mom.

Just an FYI-I normally am a very responsible parent, but ds11 has PPD and is very difficult to shop for, and his birthday is shortly after x-mas so even harder to shop for! The more I think about it the more I'm loving the idea of a Keurig that the whole family can use

Our Costco was $139 for the Platinum. I picked one up today for my dad to give to my mom for x-mas. It came with 80 K-cups also.

:cool1: I am in canada, and just got mine. The up graded version.

Sears has it on sale for the weekend for 129$.. I signed up to bed bath and beyond website. Took the flyer to BBB showed the price match. And my showed my 20% discount email from BBB..

107$ :cool1: with taxes

Sales girl told me to hold my receipt anything happens to the Keurig they will exchange it for a new one. :cool1:

I want one of these!! I just cant get past the high cost of the cups!! unless there are places that sell them cheaper? I dont have a reg coffie makeer now, I just dont like the hassle of making it really....

At first I thought that they were expensive - I love mine and got mine at BBB for 20% off also. Save BBB coupons they NEVER expire. I also use the coupons for the K cups which works out to 18 cups for 8 a box. Less than 50cents per pod. My husband and I drink different kinds so it works out great. If you drink a pot of coffee a day it might not be economical.

Just wanted you to know that the Target pre-Black Friday sale has a Keurig Elite B-40 for $109.99. This one would work well for the whole family and is a good price :)

Best purchase EVER!! Santa got mine early (from Costco for $139 with the extra K cups).

My 2 year old loves to make my coffee for me every morning. But right now I'm off to try the tea thing.
