Can somebody please explain which early entry/Magic Morning options I will have staying at the Grand Californian Villas on DVC points?

Are Magic Mornings and early entry the same thing? Both parks?

Also, is it even advisable to attend these? I know at WDW I usually try to avoid the early entry parks. Can you Disneyland experts please help me out?

Thanks so much!

As a guest of the Resort, you will have access to Magic Mornings at Disneyland every day it is offered (normally Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday). Magic Mornings are for one hour prior to normal park opening and only select attractions are open (Fantasyland, Matterhorn, Nemo, Star Tours). Unlike WDW, it is generally accepted that Magic Mornings are a very good time to visit Disneyland as lines are significantly shorter, especially for the Fantasyland rides which are "slow loaders". And now that Star Tours is open, you get first crack at it before the massive crowds.

Fastpass is not available during Magic Morning, but it does allow you to position yourself to be ahead of the crowds trying to obtain Star Tours Fastpasses.

Early Entry is the old name of Magic Mornings, so that might be the source of some of your confusion.

As a guest of the Resort, you also get first shot at WOC FPs and the Little Mermaid ride, utilizing the GCH entry to DCA. This is available everyday.

Here is the super thread on the subject: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1675403&highlight=magic+morning

You can get so much done with MM. Staying at the GCH is a wonderful experience for us.

You know, now that I found a few posts - including the post you kindly pointed me to - I think I have been confusing Magic Mornings with the Toon Town Madness early entry. Still a bit foggy on that one.

But the thread you just linked me to is great, thanks! :goodvibes

Mickey's Toon Town Madness is when Toon Town opens one hour before it normally does for those who have tickets for this event. There is an opening ceremony and you get to enjoy Toon Town before the general public. I haven't been to this event, so if you have any specific questions, I hope someone else can answer them.

It is my understanding that you can get a lot of character interaction done at this event, but since it would conflict with being in the regular park during precious morning hours, I have never seen it. :)

ToonTown Morning Madness is a "ticketed" event. That happens an "hour" before TT normally open, on Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays. . . in otherwords, it happens just after park opening. Those you need the ticket to get into, regardless of staying at the disney hotels or not (or being DVC as far as I know). You CAN however try to purchase tickets for this if you wanted to- the "magical extras" (IIRC, if that's not the exact name it's something similar) booklets can be purchased for $10 each at the WDTC in DTD. There's a few other "nice" things included in the booklets (like priority seating for Aladdin)

However, as Disney hotel guest, you get to do Magic Morning/EE (they are the same thing) every morning it's offered during your stay. You show them your room key. You also can get into DCA earlier, every day. Not sure when your trip is- but right now they are opening the "hotel only" gate at 9 am. Usually it is 9:30- you can get fast passes for WOC/Soaring. Right now the summer promo gets you into the Little Mermaid ride (walk on) before 10 a.m.

Normally DL Magic Morning is Tues/Thur/Sat/Sun. You don't want to avoid DL during "those days" as thats alot of days! The park generally gets "busy" after 10 am.

Currently Magic Mornings are only in DL (this is rumored to be changing after Carsland opens). YES ! Do it. It is very quiet time to do attractions in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. At this time, Star Tours is open during MM as is the Matterhorn (though right now it's closed for refurbs so check your dates). Fast Passes don't become available until park opening, but as was mentioned, you can be in line (esp for Star Tours) right away.
