Confiscating Water Bottles

I apologize. I did assume that you do not have damaged saliva glands. What I am saying is, many with this condition could not do without water long enough even to stand in a security line without it, and the proceed to a place that was selling it. They must have access to water, literally, constantly. I don't think you were being argumentative, I just did not get the impression that you truly understood the time frame that some cannot be without water.

apology accepted....:goodvibes

I do understand it, my mom suffered from lung cancer for 9 years prior to it taking her over completely (in and out of remission at least 4 times). I know the water deal, but in all honesty, she was able to stand on a line (when she could stand literally) without water in her mouth. As I said there are many medical reasons & drugs that one takes where you need to keep hydrated. I have been on them, also ones that I am to stay out of the sun (impossible if you live in Fl ;))

Disney does have bottles for sale as soon as you walk thru their turnstiles. The MK has the store over to the left, EPCOT has the water fountains basically as soon as you enter & I think they may have a stand just after you go thru the bag checks. DHS has the area just after the turnstiles to the right & AK has it to the left.. trust me, I scope out where there is water in the event I leave mine behind. I always have water with me. That and bathrooms since I consume so much water.. it sort of goes right thru me..:rotfl: and I have a weak bladder on top of everything else.. :headache:

Again, this is not going to matter since Disney does allow the water bottles. :wizard:

just a helpful hint...if you freeze your bottle of water (after drinking a little due to expansion) it will stay cold through-out the day, and you can sip it as it melts. Tho in FL heat, that may not be too long!

On our first trip the guards checking our bags asked if we brought plenty of water to keep us hydrated throughout the hot summer day. We brought in a soft sided color last week everyday and got a thumbs up from security everyday. They commented on how smart it was to save money and stay healthy.

Me too! I grew up in New England and I can't think of ANYWHERE that you are allowed to bring your own drinks in... especially Six Flags, they are horrible about that stuff.

When I went to the Indy 500, i was shocked at all the people bringing coolers in. I had no idea that was allowed!!!

I just assumed water wasn't OK at Disney but now that I know it is, I'm psyched. We'll be bringing a couple of cases of Dasani with us to the hotel for sure!

At Fenway Park, they allow ONE water bottle per person. And not a refillable one. It has to be sealed until you walk through the gates. No open containers of any kind. When we went last year to a game, my dad and I each had one. At $4 a pop inside the gates, I made DANG SURE that my water lasted through the 9th!!!

I've had plenty of WDW tease me about my water bottles, like, "Are you SUUURREE it's just water?" with a wink. Of course, I say, "Yeah, it's too early yet." :) Never a problem. Had plenty of the Crystal Light packets as well. Although, I will say if you refill a bottle in the parks and add the packet, it still tastes HORRID!!! I tried, I failed. Ah well.

Of course, everyone at Disney, with a medical history or not, should be well hydrated, and certainly one is not going to become dehydrated in 5 or ten minutes without water.

What I was referring to is a relatively rare side effect of radiation called parotitis, which can cause instantaneous and rather severe swelling and pain- if PP is one of these people, she may not be able to go without water even long enough to go through security.

As you say though, not an issue since security is not going to confiscate water without reason.

I just got back from a cruise. When we were getting back on the ship from a stop at a port, we were going thru they metal detector thing and the person in front of us made it go off. she was pulled to the side and they took out her water bottle from this thing she was carrying in sniffed it and confiscated it. I dont know if something else she had made it go off or someone saw the bottle/smelled alcohol and "made" it go off beacuase i dont think that thing can detect alcohol. I had an open bottle of soda getting back on and nobody stopped me. At another port we some them confiscating bottles that people bought at duty free shops and they would hold them til the end of the cruise

I don't remember if this has been posted or not,but if you don't bring in water, you can go up to any refreshment stand selling fountain drinks and request a cup of water and it will be given to you free.
