I'm so excited! It looks as if we are going to be able to stay at BCV by renting points in late Sept/ early Oct. Our kind DVC member has made the reservation and emailed me the confirmation number.

Now, I want to double-check with Disney to make sure the reservation is in place before sending out our down payment.
I called BCV and was told that this was too far ahead for the reservations to be in their database. CRO also could not access the reservation in their database. Do any of you know where at Disney I could call to confirm our ressies??

Thanks for any help!
Mary

PS - Thanks to all of you for all the great info I have picked up on these boards. You are really a wealth of knowledge. I'm sure we'll have even more fun on our trip because of all the tips I've picked up here!

1tiggerfan - You really shouldn't post the MS number on the website.

I would doubt the BCV resort would have that info so early and CRO is technically separate from the Vacation Club and would think they would have access only to the information pertinent to the small percentage of rooms they can book.

Why not ask for a photostat of the ressie before you send the down payment?

Actually BCV will have your reservation, but you need to tell them it was made on points. They don't get a feed from CRO reservations until 5 days before the reservation, but they get the point reservations as soon as they are made. The person that you talked to either didn't realize it was a point reservation you were referring to or didn't know how to access the point reservations.

Thanks so much for your tips. I will call BCV again in the morning. Today I told them that the reservation was made through member services, but did not specifically say they were made with points . That magic word may do the trick!

I was nervous about calling the Member Services number without having a DVC membership number. However, if BCV can't help, I will try giving Member Services my ressie number and see if they will confirm it.

Thanks!
Mary

I decided to try BCV one last time tonight. After firmly mentioning that this was a points reservation several times, they looked it up for me. Hurray!! Looks like we are all booked!!

Now if we can just stand the long wait until September!!

I am sorry for suggesting ms i didn't know that information was that confidential. I will not do that again! Thanks for letting me know it was such a secret. I am removing that number from the post as well.

Glad it worked out for you Lou'sMommy. You will have a great time at BCV!

Just in the way of explanation, the 800# for DVC MS is paid for through DVC Member's dues. It is not a general number for Walt Disney World. It is strictly for DVC members to book their DVC vacations using points. That's why it's a member's only number.

If the number were to be circulated through BB's and such, many non-members could mistakenly believe they could use the 800# as a general number to call Disney for other reservations instead of using the 407-WDisney number which is a toll call.

This would lead to excess load on the 800#. Once callers got there they would be informed they can't make general WDW resort reservations but must call CRO, but the costs associated with DVC receiving the 800# call in the first place would still apply. These costs as mentioned are paid for through dues.

Also when calling MS at the 800# you must supply your membership number (or SSAN) before MS can locate any reservations, so anyone who is not a member with that information cannot get reservation information anyway.

I wouldn't stress too much about posting the number 1tiggerfan - I just did a quick google and found the number in 7 different web sites and 12 different usenet threads.

That phone number is about as secret as the username and password to login to the members only area website.

Thanks firefighter mickey for the support! I didn't realize that it would put people in such a tizzy!! I took the number off yesterday after I was told I should never post that information so I guess if someone wants the number they will have to do a search and find out the BIG secret some other way!!!

Lou'sMommy - I did the same thing you did which was try to call and confirm my ressie before sending my deposit to DVC owner I was renting points from. The DVC owner emailed me my confirmation number (and later mailed the original hardcopy of ressie to me), but I wanted to verify it for myself. When I called CRO and told them I had a DVC ressie, they themselves gave me the MS phone number. You can call MS anytime and tell them you want to verify your ressie. As long as you supply the ressie number, they will verify it. I did this several times until our departure just to be sure it didn't "disappear".

You'll love BCV at this time of year. This is almost exactly the same time we went last fall - end of Sept/beginning of Oct. Perfect weather and everything a walk-on!!

Caskbil Stated: "Also when calling MS at the 800# you must supply your membership number (or SSAN) before MS can locate any reservations, so anyone who is not a member with that information cannot get reservation information anyway"

When I rented points, I first telephoned to verify the reservation, I had no problems verifying things without a member number. I phoned about three different times without a problem, I just said, hi, I am renting points, and want to verify, add a preference, etc. and didn't have a problem at all. The only thing I just didn't understand was when we got to the resort, our cards said "DVC MEMBER", which gave us all the perks that a member gets, I didn't think that was right! considering what the membership costs, these perks should be only given to the original owner, not renters.

With this I completely agree and it will be included (not just because of your post) in the long letter I am in the process of writing to some higher ups at DVC.

I will bet if it were you being charged you would not be so flip about this. I am in total agreement with Caskbill on this one.
While I am sure it is available on other web sites, the amount of calls by those wanting to find out what is new, to talk to Mickey, etc. are very high. Something, I don't particularly want to pay for.
To check a ressie, hey, not a problem, the member ultimately pays for it, but, to air the number is not necessary. You could have asked the member for it.

1tiggerfan, thanks for trying to help me out. I'm sorry that you've taken so much heat over this.
