CONFIRMED! Splash Mountain REFURB: August 28 - November 16, 2017

Anything could happen really. Sometimes the get pushed longer. It is pretty rare they open early tho.

How about it getting pushed back a week? (Desperate for hope!)

Did anyone see anything else on the scheduled refurb page? For the fall?

They likely won't need another 3 month refurb before the 50th, they will need a short one for sure though.
If history is our guide, they will. They have had 3 refurbs lasting 2 months or longer since 2010 - this will be the 4th. So we have 4 long ones in 8 years but will not have another in the next 5?

2021 is the 50th. Once this refurb is done, you'll have 3ish years until that point. They will do smaller reforms during that time span.

You rely on historical data when it suits you and ignore it when it does not? :rolleyes1

What? I am looking at the data. I am telling you what I know. Yes things could change but this is likely the last major refurb before the 50th. I am also fairly certain there will be shorter ones in between that time frame. There is a bigger picture here and historical data doesn't always present that.

We will know eventually, but I'm more than skeptical. Don't take this personally, but I am not buying into internet theories about a huge 50th Anniversary refurb schedule already underway. Disney does operate on a grand time scale, but they have never done this kind of refurb management before.

Honestly, I hope that I am wrong. It would be great to see that Disney management is actually trying to keep all of its rides at peak performance instead of only fixing stuff when it is so broken that it is down as often as up.

Refurbs need to happen for the good of the park. The whole "it's warner in October than it is in February" or "it's busier in November than it is in February" people need to understand if doesn't affect you it will affect someone else at another time of the year. I love Splash. I have a trip planned during the refurb. I'm OK with it. It happens and hopefully I'll be able to catch it on my next trip. I'd actually prefer they rotate the time each year certain rides are refurbed. A lot of families schedule vacations the same time each year, and to have the same attraction be down every year during their vacation stinks even more. Just my two cents, not everyone may agree. But let's think about the thousands of other people who will be at the park during the time you're proposing they move the refurb to.

This is a pretty judgemental post. For my part, I will be in WDW in September for 10 days and in January for 12, so a refurb was going to impact one of those vacations anyway. I am still upset with the timing. Why? Because it will be HOT in September and COLD in January. Guess when I would prefer to ride Splash? :rolleyes2

As a relative newcomer to these boards, it's pretty disheartening to see the level of complaining about this. Yes I realize it's the Internet and it's expected. :smooth:

Um respectfully though it's pretty clear the Splash refurb is at an odd time of the year (looking at BuckeyeBama's list of refurbs on it which reflect a Jan start time with the exception of last year on a 1 day refurb in December). All other arguments/rationales aside it's still odd to put a water ride down during hot hot months which has already been discussed throughout a few threads on this topic.

I too get the refurbs. There's been one every time I went and hey I never did get to go on the Backlot Tour because it was down when I last went for some reason and then it was gone forever but I'm not sure I would leap to calling people selfish. That's kinda a bit rude. I wouldn't call people selfish who are rejoicing because they are planning that Jan/Feb trip and now get to ride Splash Mountain whereas before they didn't. I'm not just thinking about not getting to ride Splash Mountain you know I'm also thinking of what those people who were going to ride it will now be going to.

Even with being a newcomer I would say that anytime a ride/attraction/show, etc is down during someone's vacation that they wanted to ride or see they will likely express sadness or annoyance or irritation and honestly the vast majority are just venting and you'll see a lot of threads I'm sure regarding this ride or that ride or this show or that show being down during their vacation. I wouldn't broadly call people selfish though.

I don't mean to come off as judgemental but I can see why you may think that. I don't have a problem with people saying it sucks that it's being refurbed during their vacation, I totally understand that it does. It's the whole "as long as it's not when I'm going" mentality.

I've been in February and sometimes it's chilly and sometimes it's nice and warm, but no matter what there's still a super long wait for Splash... people love it and can care less about the weather, regardless the time of year. Coming from single degree temperatures up north in February it feels pretty toasty being 70 in Florida.

IDK if you had already found this on the DIS so apologies if you have but here's the master list that was just updated 4/17/17 for all the parks/resorts/restaurants, etc

I know Mission Space has a closed date from 6/5 to 7/31 but that's not quite Fall Fall yet you know what I mean?
