CONFIRMED: DCL no longer going to Matzatlan!!!

Hi guys,

Do any of you have a brunch booked during one of our former sea days but now a new port day? If so have you called DCL to find out what they plan on doing?

Will our reservations be cancelled or rescheduled? Will Palo be open for brunch the day we are in port (usually they are not open on port days)?

We have a nursery reservation that I need to change if they are going to move our ressie to a new day.

K.

I have the same questions! We are on the Jan 30 sailing and have a brunch reservation for Feb 1 the first Cabo day.

Hi All!

First, thank you son3disfan for calling and posting the times. I have personally had to hang up twice after waiting over 10 minutes because of the chaos that breaks out in my house whenever I am on the phone :headache: !

Here are my questions...I have never been on a cruise that tenders to the port and I am planning excursions NOT thru DCL. How much time should I give to get off the boat in the a.m.? Also, how much time should I allow to wait in the tender line (if there is one) to re-board? Is the last tender at "all aboard time"?
Finally, do we tender to the marina? That is where my tour group will me meeting/dropping off.

Thanks!

I just checked my ressie - we leave 10/23 and it still shows Mazatlan

1 Los Angeles, California - 4:00 p.m.
2 At Sea - -
3 At Sea - -
4 Puerto Vallarta, Mexico 7:30 a.m. 6:00 p.m.
5 Mazatlan, Mexico 7:30 a.m. 4:00 p.m.
6 Cabo San Lucas, Mexico 7:15 a.m. 2:30 p.m.
7 At Sea - -
8 Los Angeles, California 9:30 a.m. -

I posted upthread a ways, but essentially what I was told is that the Palo Brunches that were on the sea day which is now Cabo would be moved to the sea day that was Mazatlan. I was told not to touch the reservation. Now was the rep correct? I don't know. I know others have called about this issue, but I have not seen them respond to see if their answer is the same as mine. I was told it would update in the computer, but we sail this Sunday (Jan30th) and nothing has changed yet. You might want to call them and see what answer you get especially since you have nursey reservations too.

pirate: We've taken our time booking excursions, basically because we don't know what we want to do on our first cruise, and we're more "home bodies" so the idea of being on ship sounds good. :)

But, what little research I did do, Matzatlan sounded interesting, so I'm a little sad, but SO thankful disboards are here to get the updates!

I received this reply from DCL regarding my Feb. 20th MR cruise:

Sunday - Los Angeles
Monday - At Sea
Tuesday - At Sea
Wednesday - Puerto Vallarta (Ashore time is 7:30am and onboard time is 7:00pm)
Thursday - Cabo San Lucas (Ashore time is 11:15am and onboard time is 7:00pm)
Friday - Cabo San Lucas (Ashore time is 7:15am and onboard time is 1:30pm)
Saturday - At Sea
Sunday - Los Angeles

Please be aware, that Guests ashore and onboard times can change without notice.

Next, dining attire varies by venue or theme night on your cruise. In general, most meals are "Cruise Casual"-- jeans, khakis and capris are permitted; however, we ask that Guests refrain from wearing shorts, swimwear or tank tops in the dining rooms.

Below is the recommended attire for your cruise itinerary and is subject to change:

*Nights 1, 2, 5, 7: cruise casual
*Night 3: "formal night" - formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for women: gown or dress
*Night 4: pirate night with deck party - cruise casual or bring your best pirate outfit!
*Night 6: "semi-formal night" - semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket; for women: dress or pantsuit.

Lastly, Port Adventures will be available to arrange for both calls to Cabo San Lucas. At this time, Port Adventures are unable to be reserved online for the additional stop at Cabo San Lucas. We are in the process of adding these to the website.

This is the type of email Disney should have sent out to everyone. I mean I have gotten at least 5 emails from them about my cruise prior to now. I wish they would be a little more proactive in getting the information out there. If you go to the website there still is not overt mention of this change. I understand this change effects a great many people, but notify those leaving soonest and work your way out from there. Put an alert on your website with links to the changes for each date as they become available.

The itinerary on the reservation website (when you search for a cruise) has been updated, removing Mazatlan and adding a second day in Cabo. It shows the two consecutive Cabo days for all cruises, even if in actuality some have Cabo-PV-Cabo. I'm sure they are working to update everything. It's a huge change at a very busy time.

We go in October. I HOPE they keep this. I wasn't interested in Mazatlan and this keeps me from picking between the two choices at Cabo :) They changed it on ours too!!!

Someone currently on HAL posted on cruisecritic that their stop in Mazatlan was canceled. Now someone on Princess posted that they are also skipping Mazatlan. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1346136
Someone posted, "My son and daughter-in-law are on the Sapphire Princess right now and call to ask me to look up some things in Cabo as their stop in Mazatlan has been canceled. They will be going to Cabo and spending more time there then they will be going to Ensenada with a sea day.
Just thought it was interesting. "

Just recieved this e-mail from the travel agent. It nicely presents who has what itineraries.
Due to the changing environment in Mazatlan, 7-night Mexican Riviera sailings from now until April 17, 2011 will be removing this port from the itinerary and replacing it with a second stop in Cabo San Lucas. Disney apologizes for any inconvenience but wants to ensure the safety of their guests. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Here are the new itineraries based on sailing date (subject to change without notice):

1/23, 1/30, 2/13, 3/13, 4/3

Day 1 – Los Angeles
Day 2 – Day at Sea
Day 3 – Cabo San Lucas
Day 4 – Puerto Vallarta
Day 5 – Day at Sea
Day 6 – Cabo San Lucas
Day 7 – Day at Sea
Day 8 – Los Angeles

2/6, 2/20, 2/27, 3/6, 3/20, 3/27, 4/10

Day 1 – Los Angeles
Day 2 – Day at Sea
Day 3 – Day at Sea
Day 4 – Puerto Vallarta
Day 5 – Cabo San Lucas
Day 6 – Cabo San Lucas
Day 7 – Day at Sea
Day 8 – Los Angeles

4/17 Day 8 - Replace Mazatlan with Cabo San Lucas

I have to say that I am shocked they haven't sent an email to everyone about this! I would never have known if not for the DISboards! Thank you!

I don't understand 1 thing: why are we leaving at 130pm on the 2nd Cabo day? There seems to be no reason to leave earlier than planned. Especially because many people (myself included) have excursions planned that go later than 130pm. Why would they not have notified us of that? And why are they changing the depature time to begin with??

I have the same questions! We are on the Jan 30 sailing and have a brunch reservation for Feb 1 the first Cabo day.

We have a high tea reservation on the 1st Cabo day and asked about it. They said they cannot reschedule it, I guess we have to do it on our own. :(

I called again last night and was told for the Palo Brunch scheduled for the sea day that is now a Cabo day, they will move it to the old Mazatlan Day at least for my Jan 30th cruise. I was told to keep watching the plans page and it will hopefully get updates in the next few days.

I want to be sure formal night is clarified as I booked a spa appointment that goes into our dining time on night 3, thinking that night 2 would be formal night. I don't want to miss it so will have to cancel.

We had to find out about the change though Google to our Feb 20th cruise....we have been there twice and did not sign up for this...called Disney and got the unaround from Sue and will work with our travel agent tomorrow to cancel:mad:

They have destroyed our family vacation and cannot even send us an email, and their customer service reps are the worst I have ever spoken to.

Actually, you did sign up for it. You might want to check that contract that talks about, oh, ports can change! Yup, it's in there!

Good luck on the cancel!
