CONFIRMED: DCL no longer going to Matzatlan!!!

I just off the Magic yesterday and had booked the Oct 2 MR. This is news our iteneraty still shows Mazatlan. Will this be long term on only temp??

This is what I read on another forum from Mazatlan frank...
What I think.......

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just to make things clear and do not want to start a controversy. The shootout was done in an area on the streets, not in a shopping center, where some tourists do go, but most go to Mega, Walmart, Sams, Soriana and Ley El Mar.
This took place at Ley Mazatlan. Not at the market (mercado). The market is downtown, Ley Mazatlan is farther north.
I just do not understand why we are the only problem, when it is everywhere. I live here in Mazatlan and I am not histerical as so many people are thanks to the media. I have children too, they go on the streets. I am not going to hide. I will go on vacation to a city that has crime. I just use common sense, I do not buy things I am not supposed to buy. If something happens, it is because I was a the wrong place the wrong time.
It is just like the flu that we didnt have 2 years ago. 3 months with no ships, no people at the resorts, no income, it was terrible. The media even scared us for a while.
Anyways, I will just try to survive, economically. Those coming to Mazatlan, have a great time here, those who arent, I am so sorry.

I thank all of you for asking questions and for all the support. We were looking so forward in having the Wonder in mazatlan.

A few days ago I sent an email to a very good friend of mine, asking for the police to go around the docks so everyone would feel safer. He called me and said he had sent my request to the director of public safety. He did, today I read in the news that our mayor went to the port manager to tell him that they were going to do this. I can see that they are working. Our mayor started the 1 of Jan. he is working hard and so are we.

Anyways, I hope I get to see all of you someday. If I can help anyone, you can send me an email.

Take care and I wish you all a great year! I hope I have a good one!
God bless
Mazatlan Frank

I don't think they know yet whether they will go back to Mazatlan or if they will permanently change to a third port, etc. We're all just going to have to be patient and let Disney work this out, I think. We have a MR cruise in December which obviously still shows Mazatlan, but they need to figure out the next few months first.

Weird...going to have to call and confim. If I look at our Feb 13th sailing I am seeing.

Los Angeles
Sea
Cabo
Puerta Vallarta
Sea
Cabo
Sea

Did you get any port time for the 2/13 sailing?

I hope they change the formal nites etc. so they are not on port days.
Off to research Cabo, since we will be there twice :)

Thanks for the March 13 info. I have Palo reservations and I'm hoping I can keep them.

Awww! that is too bad. That stop was just about our favorite stop. We went over to Stone Island and rode horses on the beach, met some lovely people and had a great day. Totally understand for safety's sake though.

Here's the great thing about 2 days in Cabo...

We did a MR cruise with another cruise line years ago. In Cabo, the cruise ships tender in to Cabo (just like DCL is doing). This means that if the waters are too choppy, you do not get to go to Cabo. We arrived in Cabo at 6:30am. They announced that they were testing the tenders. Shortly thereafter, it was announced that the crew had determined the waters were too choppy for passengers to safely tender ashore; therefore, we would not be going ashore. They they sailed further out and turned on the casino (again, not DCL) and launched all sorts of extra activities. It is also the reason it is (usually) a short port visit - in case they can't have people tender ashore. With two days at Cabo, you will get a second chance should the waters be too choppy.

Btw, still have never seen Cabo. :( Drat those choppy waters! :upsidedow

Ok, this is for the March 13 th sailing:

Just received the most updated info for our cruise....waited on hold for over 35 mins so I am sure everyone is in the same boat as us!

Here is our schedule:

Sunday March 13 : Port departure 4:30 pm
Monday March 14 : sea day. FORMAL NIGHT
Tuesday March 15: Cabo 11:15 -5pm
Wed. March 16: PV. 8:45 -7pm. PIRATE NIGHT
Thursday March 17. Sea day
Friday. March 18. Cabo 7:15 - 1:30. SEMI FORMAL NIGHT
Sat. March 19. Sea day
Sunday March 20. Arrive at port

Now the agent I spoke with said the arrival times we " all ashore times"
And the departure times were " all aboard times" because of tendering in Cabo.

I believe the ships leave a half hour after the all aboard times. ( like leaving at 5:30 pm and 2pm)

Hope that helps out those who are planning some excursions outside of Disney.
We have to make some adjustments as well.

She also said the port adventure staff doesn' t work weekends so expect the port adventures for our new Cabo day to be available to book late Mon or Tuesday.

Hello:flower3: I am going on the 2/13/11 sailing and someone on that thread called DisneyCruise Line and was told that Formal Night is on the 3rd night, not the 2nd night as you reported. The itineraries for the 2/13/11 cruise are identical to yours with Day 2 being a "At Sea" Day and Day 3 being in Cabo. Wonder why you were told the Formal night is on Monday and on my cruise someone was told the Formal Night was on Tuesday.

Good question. Our I believe our original 2/13/11 itinerary had formal night on night 2 and yesterday dcl said night 3 Son3disfan did you clarify your formal night etc or assume it would stay the same?

It wouldn't be the 1st time I've heard a CM on the phones made a mistake:confused3

I just got off the phone with a CM for DisneyCruise Line and she confirmed that the Formal Night on the 2/13/11 cruise is on Day #3 (Tuesday).

I was told the same thing for the 3/13 cruise, but the CM also said that Day 3 was a sea day.

So I'm thinking that the cruises a bit farther out on the calendar are not 100% updated in their system yet, because on our cruise, day 3 is now Cabo.

I would think it's going to actually be Day 2 or Day 5...leaning more toward Day 2, since that is what others have been told.

However, due to the different cruise itineraries that they are setting up, each cruise might be different. Should be interesting for the CMs on board.

Hmmmmm..

It looks like they are changing the port times for the second day at Cabo to 1:30. BUT, I have a dolphin excursion booked thru DCL directly that day that is listed from 12:15-2:15. How will that work?

I am also on the 2/13 and the CM I spoke to Friday said formal night is Night 3- day first day at Cabo.

It was confirmed by a CM Sunday night. Port times were given as well.

Each week things can change. Just stick with what the CM said for your cruise.
We are a month later, so I am sure changes are still bound to happen.

Also, CM s have been wrong in the past. Sometimes the info I find on here much more reliable then through the CMs:rotfl:

They might cancel that particular excursion time. Will have to wait and see, I guess. :confused3

My DH and I have booked the Dolphin Excursion on the 2nd Day in Cabo but out time is earlier in the morning - around 10:30 am so we won't have any problem getting back to the ship by 1:30 pm. I hope they work something out for you and don't just cancel your excursion.:flower3:

I just got home from the PC cruise. In Cabo the all aboard was before our DCL excursion ended. If you were not on a DCL excursion you had to be back for the tender at 2:00 but our excursion didn't end until 3:00 or 3:30. DCL arranged for all of those on the excursions to come back after all abord time. The Port Adventure desk also called us the night before the excursion to explain how it would all work. At the end of our excursion we were escorted to the tender which was still waiting.

If you're on a DCL excursion they won't leave you :goodvibes

Great news! I hope this is the case for us as well. All the other times for the Dolphin Excursion are sold out and this is what we are looking forward to the most! Thanks for the info!
