Confirmation & room assignments...

I thought thsi odd. I got a confirmation in the mail today for a ressie I made for Christmas week at VWL. It is for a studio. I did not make any requests as I was just amazed I was even able to swicth my BCV ressie to VWL at the 7 month window.
Well, anyway beside studio it says lock-off.

Which leads me to believe they already place you in an assigned room?
How do they even know I'll have a lock-off or a dedicated?

Also, I want to call back and add a request of near the elevators. Can I call back and do this even if I already got my confirmation?

Lockoff or dedicated isn't a request, it's a room category. They have to assign one or the other when you make the reservation so that they know how many rooms they have left available to reserve for each size. I talked to MS one time about this when I requested a dedicated 1 bedroom at BWV. They said they assign the dedicated first, leaving the lockoffs to be reserved as 2 bedrooms. When they run out out of dedicated, then they start separating the lockoffs as 1 bedrooms & studios. This was for BWV, where they don't have any dedicated 2 bedrooms. I reserve BWV at 11 months and have always got a dedicated 1 bedroom.
