Confirmation party...gift or not gift?

DD has been invited to a Confirmation party. I told her we should get some type of gift and DD looked at me like I grew another head! So what do you all think, Gift or No Gift? And if yes, then what? Remember these are just 13 and 14 year old kids.

Without knowing what this person's interests are, a Barnes & Noble card usually works well for any occasion. I would give something, but I'm sure there will be some guests who don't.

Yes you give a gift. I'm surprised they are having a party. In PA confirmations are during the week.

There are alot of Confirmation gifts out there. Check Hallmark Card stores or Christan book stores.

It would just be like a picture frames, crosses etc.

It doesn't cost that much either. Even a card would be nice.

When I was growning up it was on a week day but my neice is having hers in May and it is a Saturday.

Yes to a gift. Without a doubt. Confirmation parties are huge around here. I would get her a gift card to her favorite store.

Yes, I guess give a gift. I'm surprised there is a party also. Usually the families just go to dinner or something with the sponsor , usually not a big deal here.

To each there own though , since I'm not one to talk if anyone read my 1st Communion thread.

Well, I am in PA and our confirmations are on Fri evening and Sat morning.

Confirmations are HUGE here. I´m already planning my son's confirmation NEXT year, lol.

I´d definately give her a gift. Some cash in a card or a gift card to a local Mall or favorite shope should work well.

Yes get a gift. Like others said, a gift card would be nice. Maybe a small something religious would be nice as well.

IMO With Catholics first Communion is a big deal and Confirmation isn't as much with Protestants it is the other way around and Confirmation is the bigger deal.
For my DD's we just went out for a very nice dinner since all our family lives 1,000 miles away, but some of the kids were having parties. We bought her a cross necklace and the girl across the street who has been my DD's friend since 2nd gr. a confirmation bracelet from Family Christian store-it was around 15.

We usually give cash. If just your dd is going a giftcard is nice as well.

Our confirmations are on Sundays and we always got Christian gifts or cash.

So would $20 in a card be okay? I hate to give a GC to her favorite store since that is what the norm is for the birthday parties around here. I know she hates to read so a book store GC is out. I don't have time to shop for a frame (although I like that idea) so I guess Hallmark here I come! Thanks all!

Money is fine but one mom told me to get her daughter a gift card to clothing store so she could pick out what she wanted since the money was put into her bank account. Now this was Communion but I thought that might be nice too.

Communion parties big here in SE PA, not confirmation. Oh well that could change.

If it's just your DD attending, then I think $20 in a card would be fine. If more of your family members are attending, then I would give just a bit more. Just my 2 cents.
