All WDW parks closed at 7:00 tonite and will not open tomorrow. No transportation will run tomorrow.

We were delivered a notice tonight as well as two phone messages with instructions for the next 24 hours. The winds are expected to reach tropical storm strength by midnight and may last for 24 hours. All guests are confined to our rooms. We've been instructed to close all blinds, stay away from windows and leave the deadbolt latch open in case they need to enter the room for an emergency. There will be no housekeeping service tomorrow. No guests are allowed out of their rooms until given an all clear by the resort staff.

Disney has devoted three channels on the room TV to run movies continously during this time. One will have children's shows (Finding Nemo, Toy Story, Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Tarzan and the Little Mermaid). The other two will run Armageddon, The Count of Monte Cristo, Dead Poets Society, Pearly Harbor, The Sixth Sense, Pirates of the Caribbean, Remeber the Titans, Shanghai Noon, Holes and The Parent Trap (1998).

Flashlights were delivered to our room this afternoon, patio furniture was brought inside and we have food to last us thru tomorrow (Olivia's restaurant will apparently be closed much of the day on Sunday).

Our room is comfortable, well prepared, well stocked and we do feel safe here at OKW. The wind has really picked up in the past half hour but no rain for a couple of hours.

Even though we're confined to our room- I can think of worse places to be!

Thanks for the report Doc. It certainly sounds like a different kind of Disney adventure. Hopefully all will go well for you and your fellow guests.

Doc I have been thinking about everyone at DW and Vero Beach today and will keep you all in my prayers and thoughts through the night and certainly tomorrow. Thanks for posting for us to read. I wish you all the best and hope everyone is safe. Keep safe and enjoy watching the movies.

Thinking of all of you!!

That's the spirit! Thank you for sharing this info with us. Weren't you at WDW during Hurricane Charley, too?

Doc----

We were supposed to be there until tomorrow, but left 2 days early due to Jeanne. Looks like we would have missed our flight home if we had stayed.

Hunker down and enjoy your stay at OKW. The crowds were great this past week.

Sounds like our stay at BWV during Charley (the 1st born of the season to hit WDW)....

I seriously hope the media hypesters are wrong and this is not the start of a regular annual increasd hurricane thing (you know...MONSTER HURRICANE)......

Good luck, stay put, and remember.........

Take only one of the box breakfasts/lunches/dinners, otherwise they will bring in security...... and kick out the lobby entertainment.

Seriously.... Stay safe, and god bless..... Just 'chalk' it up as a once in a life time Disney experience.

I still wish I was where you are.....

Hi Doc, thanks for the update. I will be thinking of you and Mrs. Doc, stay safe.

We were at OKW for our first trip home right after Frances hit. Then Ivan slipped by us. We were lucky. Will keep all of you in our thoughts.

Stay safe.

Yes ... and Floyd too in '99 ... and we were originally scheduled to be here three weeks ago when Frances went thru- but cleverly changed that trip to this week!

No more WDW trips until after hurricane season ends!

Hang in there Doc.

Thoughts and prayers for all affected by this latest hurricane.

Peace,
G4L

Stay safe, Doc. This storm hasn't gotten the media buildup of the others but it looks like it is packing quite a wallop. Glad to hear you got a more comfortable room than your original one, especially since you'll be spending time in it.

Keeping good thoughts for you as you weather this storm!

Good thing you are in those HUGE OKW rooms rather than the teeny BWV or BCV ones!!!!

Sorry, I just couldn't resist!!!!:p Just trying to make you smile a bit during this time!!! Although, I have to admit....being at OKW in a hurricane is probably one of the nicer places to be!!!

Good luck, and hang tight!!!

Thanks for the update. P&PD that this will all be over soon !!!

I hope you stay safe there Doc, and hopefully won't lose power. Kinda scary, I am sure, though.

This hurricane season will not be forgotten soon. Hugs to you both..

Doc,
Could you please let us know any of your future travel plans to WDW? Your luck doesn't seem to be real good with the huricanes.

All kidding aside, best wishes!

Two random thoughts:

1. The outfit providing high speed Internet access to the Disney resorts has gotta be making a KILLING this month.

2. Am I the only one that would really love to see where they store 20,000 flashlights (not to mention replacement batteries) for each WDW resort room?!?!

Stay safe, Doc!

i really empathize with you, doc. we were locked down three weeks ago at csr. man, what i wouldn't have given for a 1 br at okw with a full size fridge and kitchen, instead of the 2 by 2 fridge and small nicrowave they lent us. we couldn't store up enough takeout from the pepper market in that tiny fridge for the 24 hours stuck in the room.

praying for all the floridians perm and temp that are going through the storm rifght now.

hopefully for those at wdw the storm will weaken like frances did and not do much but get things wet, and looks like it will move through much faster.

Doc,
Are you still okay? Or maybe you have no power or the high speed is down? I know the boards have been down for quite a while.
