Confessions of an obsessive planner... Let the countdown begin!!

YAY! DME tags make everything wonderful, don't they?

Have fun celebrating not going back to school! I'm totally jealous...NY has some of the strictest homeschool regulations, so I probably won't be doing it. But I envy you and wish that I could!

Love the hidden Mickey!!! :rotfl2:
We never got our DME tags which makes me sad. I know we can still use DME (we've done it before) but it isn't as efficient. And I'll be alone with the 3 kids.

I love homeschooling and am very thankful to live in a state with pretty laid back laws. I could probably homeschool anywhere because I'm a teacher but I like not having to jump through hoops! ;)

If you only knew- those trees are not next to each other (at least 100 yds apart) but standing at just the right angle at a certain spot they line up to make Mickey! :rotfl:

 That really stinks about your DME tags. :sad2:

Before I get into my update I have to share some exciting news... I'm going to have an article published in Life Learning Magazine!! This is a homeschooling magazine and I found out yesterday that the article I pitched was accepted and will be in the Nov/Dec issue. I've always wanted to be a writer and as I've gotten older my focus has been on freelance magazine articles. I've had some local/regional things published but LLM is a national magazine so I'm very excited!! :cloud9:

My ticker says one month and one day because that's when we'll actually be at Disney but one month from today we'll be leaving home to start our trip!! I'm *ahem* borrowing Stephanie's idea of 'one month from today' updates so, here goes. :goodvibes

September 24: Last minute packing/ drive to the airport for our sleep/park hotel stay

This is a Friday so Robbie will be working all day while the kids and I finish up with any last minute packing. I hope to have the car loaded and ready to go when he gets home from work so we can leave as soon as he gets cleaned up. He usually gets home around 5 and the airport is two hours away (yes, that's the closest one!) so I want to be ready to leave by 6. We'll probably just drive through somewhere for supper so we can get to the hotel by around 8.

Yesterday I booked us at the Ramada that is .5 miles from the airport. In addition to being able to leave our car in the covered garage while we're gone we also get free airport shuttle service and a continental breakfast for $70. This is about the same amount we were going to pay for uncovered parking near the airport so I'm really happy with it. The room is nothing spectacular but all of the reviews said it was clean with comfortable beds which is all we need since we won't be there long. :thumbsup2

I'm anticipating that I may be too excited to sleep much anyway! :rotfl:

WOW, I may just copy and paste this for my PTR...we are staying at a Ramada for the park/sleep/fly deal as well!!!!!!!!!!!! I took off the 24th from work to get last minute packing and such done. The boys will be at school, DH at work, so I will be doing all the last minute stuff! We'll load up the car, grab something to eat and then go to the hotel! I too doubt there will be much sleeping in the hotel, we will all be too excited!

Oh Hope....I'm so excited for your article to be in a national magazine. That is such a great accomplishment!!!! And isn't it exciting to be one month out!!! For me today is my 30 day mark!!! Sooooo excited!!!:cool1:

That's so funny- we're practically going to be on the same vacation! :lmao:

Thanks Ann, I'm pretty excited. :goodvibes

Hurray for your 30 days!! :woohoo: Remind me... when is your wedding?? Coming up soon I know! I can't wait to read all about it and see some pics of course! :lovestruc

Hi, Hope. I'm finally subscribing. :) I've been lurking on your PTR for a few days now but I haven't been able to comment yet because I have also been obsessively planning my next trip! I've really enjoyed reading and I think you did a great job on your DISign projects. I'm going to have to make a few t-shirts and money envelopes! Oh, and the movie nights? Too cool! I'm going to start those with my kids this weekend. I could go on and on...

A few pages back, you mentioned getting a novelty ring for your son to give to the "stepsisters" - is this for some sort of character interaction? My kids had a great time with the stepsisters one year. They were hilarious! So if that is what the ring is for, would you mind sharing?

And Congrats on getting published in the magazine! That is awesome!

Welcome to my madhouse! :rotfl: Thank you for the compliments- the DISign projects were so much fun it was almost sad for them to end- in fact I keep trying to decide if I want to make pillowcases just because I can. :lmao:

Yep, the ring is for a little boy to 'propose' to one of the stepsisters. They just go nuts, yelling and getting excited, even asking the little boy how big his castle is. Here's a video to give you an idea. Jace chickened out after seeing the video- he says he hopes someone does it so he can see it happen but it's not going to be him! :rotfl:

And thank you for the congrats- I'm still pinching myself. :cloud9:

Thanks so much for the info! I wonder if I can get my little guy to do it? I'll have to watch the video later, I'm sneaking on the boards at work now ;)

I thought I was playing catch-up, but apparently I just missed that post with the skirts. Anyway, they're really pretty!

Wow, one month from today! One month from today you are going to be insanely excited, and totally worried that you forgot something. Not to mention busy! That is so very soon!

All caught up Hope! I rather be prepared for something than scrambling to find it at Disney and pay their prices! I know it seems like a lot, but I bet you'll pack it well. :goodvibes

Love the skirts you got Kya!

party: ONE MONTH TO GO!!!!! party:

I'm glad to have inspired you a bit!! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

I think the sleep and park is a great option!! It makes so much sense!! You'll be rested for your trip (if you sleep :lmao:) and know you don't have to drive super early in the morning to make your flight.

I agree about being prepared! I was such a light packer pre-kids but now it seems like we take the whole house. :rolleyes1

You always have such great ideas for your PTR and I can't help but be inspired. :goodvibes

I'm really relieved about the sleep and park option- it just makes so much sense when you live far away from the airport. :thumbsup2
