My name is Missbecca, and I'm a Disney addict. *phew* Feels good to get that off my chest!
Well with that out of the way, Hi! I'm Becca, married to D, Mom to D, L, and V. And I genuinely did not intend for that to rhyme. Awkward I'm a knitwear designer and fiber artist, and D does contract work for the government. This is us, freezing our Mickey ears off here in the D.C. area:
And the babies with their first pairs of ears in 2012:
I grew up in southern California, about an hour from Disneyland. My summers (and falls, winters, and springs!) were filled with Disney. Oh, it's your birthday? We're going to Disneyland! So you got all A's? We'll pretend we didn't see that C- and go to Disneyland! Family coming in from all over the U.S.? Let's forget the beautiful national parks and sparkling beaches and take them all to Disneyland! You see where I'm going with this? I grew up, and still am a Disney Purist- there was only one Disney and it was Disneyland. As an adult, the love continued to grow as I took my own babies on their first trips and watched my sister walk down the aisle at The Grand Californian last summer. People would constantly ask us why we didn't visit Disney World? It's bigger, they'd say. So much more to see, they'd say. But honestly I NEVER had the desire to go. I'm a California girl, I've got no interest in that nonsense!
Until we moved to the D.C. area, and all of the sudden I did.
So the Hubs and I talked about it, and it looks like we'll be headed to The World for our families very first trip May 5-10, 2014! We haven't made our reservations yet, but we plan on staying at the Art of Animation in one of the suites. I would have loved to have stayed at the Polynesian resort, but I have to remind myself that this trip is about the kids too, and I know they will be happier in a bigger room and with animation that they are familiar with.
I have been pinning Disney planning stuff like a crazy person- I can't believe all of the planning sites! I'm a big time planner myself, and lists make me happy, so it's all so exciting to me!
Also: we won't be telling the kids until it gets closer. I'm thinking that Easter morning would be perfect. Maybe give each kid a golden egg in their Easter baskets with one of three words: "We're", "Going", and "To", then have them hunt for the one egg with "Disney World!" in it. Anyone have any better ideas? My Husband is equally excited as I, but he works an ungodly amount of hours and just doesn't really have the time to plan things out with me, so I'm kind of taking the reins on this one. We still have to decide whether to drive or to fly- I found an amazing deal on JetBlue that I find hard to pass up, especially when I think of 12 hours in the vehicle. Eeek!
I'm definitely looking forward to sharing my PTR here and watching it become more clear! I'd love any advice that you're willing to share!
