I am a bad cook. I make the same things over and over, so I'm trying to broaden my cooking. At my grocery store yesterday they had a pack of split breast of chickens, already seasoned w/BBQ sauce on sale. So I picked it up to pop in the oven.

Have no idea how long to cook it for. There are at least 2 in the package, the skin is on (YUCK!!!) and the bone is still on the breast. The package says 3.8 pounds.

Also, the seasoning is on the outside where the skin is. If I want to take the skin off afterwards, will the inside still taste like BBQ? I know I'm clueless, but we always make the boneless/skinless kind. thanks!!

I never know with chicken. I just looked on my Shake-n-Bake box for a rough idea. For bone-in it says 45 minutes at 400. Do you have a meat thermometer?

I think if I bake the split breasts I usually do them for about an hour on 350.

I know, I'm not much help!

ETA: An 8lb oven-stuffer roaster cooks in about 2 hours. You should be more than done in an hour.

Can't help you with the BBQ question...I don't do BBQ, but I can help with the cooking part. Bake them in a 350 oven for at least 45 minutes. If they are big ones, I would bake for an hour. If you have an instant read thermometer, they should have an internal temp of 170 or higher. If you don't have one, you should really get one. They are pretty cheap, less than $5 at Wal-Mart.

Good luck!
