Confess-what gadget/appliance did you buy but never use?

I actually had dh buy it for me from one of those infomercials, it was a little sewing type thing that was hand held. I wanted it to hem the ds uniform pants when the hem fell out or they ripped them on the seam. Needles to say it was a disaster and never worked. I have never boughten anything from an infomercial again.

The only gadget we never use that was a gift to us and we didnt purchase ourselves is probably the electric knife. DH just likes to carve things by hand generally. He says the knife pulls too much.

My MIL is the Queen of 'As seen on TV' kitchen gadgets!

Let's see there was the
Peanut Butter Maker(claims she uses it but still buys natural pb at grocery)
Ice Cream Factory(given to goodwill)
Bread Machinemm(we use it now)
Perfect Pancake(she ended up selling this on ebay)
Stor-n-spin(made it's way into the pantry but still in the box)
Juicer(sold at garage sale)
Pasta Pot(in box in the pantry)
Fil-a-bowl(She gave it to me and I don't use it either...note to self*put on ebay)

there were plenty more too...

A FoodSaver - one of the vacuum sealer things to seal and package food. We used it a few times, and it was such a pain! It would take us 2 or 3 trys to seal food properly. Now it just sits in a cabinet collecting dust.

Where do I start?

Rotisserie Chicken Roaster--only fits a small chicken and that isn't enough for our family, We would need at least 2 chickens. If you use a large roasting chicken the door slides open every time the chicken's breast spins around.

The Bullet--I really thought I would use this blender, but in the 4 months I've had it, my kids made milkshakes maybe twice.

Nesco Electric Roaster/crockpot--It is so huge I have to store it in the basement, and it is a PITA for me to go down and get it so I don't bother.

Deep Fryer--Don't really make fried foods very often, and it costs a lot to fill it with oil to only use once. I know it says you can save the oil to reuse, but I can't seem to do that.

But I will confess to owning several pampered chef items i've never used (two baking stones, gingerbread house maker, apple corer, chopper thing)

Me too. I got the apple peeler and a baking stone like 5 years ago and have yet to use them. I keep saying I'm going to use the baking stone, but I have not used it yet. Plus I think it needs to be broken in with something really greasy like crescent rolls or something too.

I also never use the george forman grill I purchased 6 years ago.

pasta machine, smoothie machine, deep fat frier, George Forman grill, food processor, food saver.... do I need to go on? :rotfl2:

I had to have a roaster oven with three wells, used it once, stored it in the attic...........................

I got a cinnamon red toaster oven that cost at least 100 bucks at Kohl's. I used that thing about 4 times. It is now in my pantry. I still like the color.

Oh yes, now see, that sounds like something I would use.
Is it actually George Foreman's brand or something else? Please inform!!!!
Thanks :flower:

It's the George Foreman brand, G5. I love it! It has grilling plates, waffle iron plates and a baking plate. This weekend, I'm attempting cookies and muffins in the baking plate. Can't wait to see how they turn out!

I have a quesadilla maker, it was a gift, I've used it once, I think it's stupid.

We have a toaster oven, hand mixer, george forman grill, rival griddle, crockpot, food processor and blender, I use all of those, in fact I use the blender several times a day.

I want a coffee maker, kitchen aid stand mixer, bread machine, pizza presto, rice cooker, deep fryer.

DH bought me a Kitchen Aid stand mixer 2 Christmases ago, and made me open it a few weeks before Christmas. He said it would help with my baking for the season. I resisted, because I had been taught to do it all by hand. One day I was running late, and needed to have something to take to a meeting. I threw all the ingredients for pumpkin bread into the mixer, and within 5 minutes it was in the oven, cooking! I was amazed at how much time it saved me. I used it every day that holiday season to make cookie dough, bread dough, mashed potatoes, etc. I love it. I still use it at least once a week. It's one time DH got it right. :rotfl2:

Deep Fryer

gee, too bad we can't do a trade ...........That would be so cool!

I think it was called the Twister. You put in hard store-bought Ice Cream & it comes out as Soft-Serve.

:rotfl2: What a waste of money!

I had one of those, tried it 1 time, it was the worst design of an appliance ever. I returned it to the store AFTER I used it. It was just a stupid idea.

I asked for it for Christmas a couple of years ago, and that was my present from her. Returning a used appliance was ackward, but at least I never had to explain to DD why we never used it.

Oooh...I'll trade you a shell baker and some swiffer refills for it.....

Can you say THIGHMASTER?! LOL I bought it when I was in my 20's. What was I THINKING! I didn't need it then, need it more now and couldn't care less... :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I love love love my salad shooter. I need to buy a new part or a totally new one. I used it tonight even though one of the parts is damaged, still works okay...

I think my house is the graveyard of misfit appliances. My dud purchases include:
George Foreman Fusion Grill--bought on sale, used 2 times, impossible to clean and a bear to store.
The pastry shell maker mentioned by others--given to my mom to dispose of properly.
Sunbeam pie maker--Cousin of the pastry shell maker--found this last weekend under the bed in the guest room.
Fry Baby/Daddy something--high cholesterol so this one is unusable, currently hidden in the bottom of linen closet.
Ice cream maker--see comment re: high cholesterol, currently resides in the garage under the jumbo pack of Scott Toilet Tissue.
Large Crock Pot--have no desire to leave my house with food cooking all day--call me paranoid--this appliance is currently Missing in Action.
Spa Bubble bathmat thingie--used 3 times which equals $33 per bubbled bath--hidden in the master closet in case hubby ever asks about this one.
Rice Cooker/Steamer--used 2 times and never cooked rice right--stored in the kitchen cabinet and can only be reached with a step ladder.

Help me. I have a problem.
