Confess-what gadget/appliance did you buy but never use?

I don't use a semi-pricey toaster/convection oven! :headache:
--once I got it I realized it was far too hot on the sides & vented on the top--you know you're
supposed to make eggs or hot dogs on the top, it has the rotisserie
Yep, off it goes in the yard sale this year
Maybe we should all get together & swap what we don't want for something we do think we'll use--
or would that lead to another, quite similiar thread??? :rolleyes1

I have quite a collection of Swiffer and Swiffer-like products. I have used each once. I find nothing beats a plain old mop and bucket.

Now when me and DH see a commercial for something like Mr. Clean Reach-It, he asks me is his sarcastic voice, "Do you want me to buy that for your collection?" :teeth:

Now that you mention it, I don't ever use my swiffer either. I love the swiffer duster though. I do use it, though not often enough. :rotfl:

That would be a fun swap! I'd be in.

Honestly? My toaster. I hate toast! I only have one because my parents stay with us ONCE a year and insist on having a toaster, they don't like toast made in my toaster oven (which I use all the time, BTW)

Ok, I am busted. I am an infomercial junky!! Here is my list

1) Gevalia Coffee Maker
2) Coffee Grinder
3) The express 101
4) My new waffle iron, I prefer my grandmothers 30 year old waffle iron
5) Deep Fryer
6) Crockpot

I love to cook, but these are all just phases I have gone through. Although the Express 101 makes a mean turkey wrap. Just don't put Angel Food cake in it... :rotfl:

We own every kitchen gadget ever made, AND we use them. The one that gets little use though is the grilled cheese maker. It is just sooo hard to clean. The George Foreman is pretty much out of rotation too. The food turned out too dry.

Remember those "Bloomin' Onion" makers - As Seen On TV? When our son was 3 or 4, he could recite that stupid commercial verbatim. It was pretty embarrassing, especially after telling our neighbors/friends "Nah, our boy doesn't watch alot of TV". As I joke, I got one for KAMommy that Christmas and wrapped it up from him. It hasn't been out of the box yet.

We'll re-gift it to him as a wedding gift...

When you re-gift, just don't do what I did.

My father was dying to get one of these Bloomin Onion makers, said he loves Outback's Bloomin onion that he would love to make them at home. Well, I got him one for Christmas when they first came out, I even put in a huge onion to get him started. Well, he read the outside of the box and decided it was too hard to work so he never opened the box, just put it downstairs in the laundry room on a shelf. Well, about a year later my stepmom was trying to find the source of the smell in her laundry room. She tried for over 6 months to figure out the smell. I just happened to be there one day and she asked me if I knew what could be smelling, as I grew up in the house and she was new to the working of the house. I looked and looked, and then I spotted the Bloomin Onion maker. I could not stop laughing when I asked her if she took the onion out of the box. Yep, sure enough, there in the box was a liquid smelly mess!

My smores maker. Great idea but never use it.......

I don't know if people consider this a gadget or not, but I bought a Tony Little "Gazelle" exercise machine through an informercial and have used it twice in two years. I swear I will use it tonight though. ;)

OMG...too many! But some I do use!

Ice cream maker (a christmas gift) - when I'm motivated, I'll make ice cream - it actually works well!

ice tea maker - (either purchased or given as gift) makes great iced coffee...after I figured it out (had one messy incident)

coffee grinder/french press (christmas gift) - LOVE this, however, it's a PITA to clean...as I can't put coffee grinds down my sink drain.

quesadilla maker (bridal shower gift) - this was given to me in 2003...I have yet to open the dang box. heheh

Bake-n-fill pan (gift) - mom couldn't figure it out...or had many failed attempts...and threw in a box of corningware she was giving me. That was last easter...I think it's still downstairs in the box it came over in...with all the corningware! hehehe

Salad Spinner (purchased) - use it every week

Electric Griddle (gift to DH) - hindsight, this was not the best idea of an anniversary gift (heheh) - but he actually USES IT! It's great for making french toast/pancakes/grilled cheese in bulk. cleans up nice too!

Veggie Steamer (gift) - used often

Espresso Machine (gift) - after peeing my pants watching the "instructional video" and reading the WARNING - UNIT COULD EXPLODE labels...I think I've used this twice in 3 years.

dear lord - no wonder my kitchen is so crowded!

I bought one of those once. But when I showed it to my mom she said it was dumb so I returned it. I still think about that smores maker and wonder what could've been...... :goodvibes

This is not a kitchen item, but I bought a cylindrical cartop carrier. It's lightweight, and easy to fold. The only problem is, that unless it's completely full, it looks like a ummm condom. :rotfl: I used it transport DD and her stuff home from college a couple of years ago, and she still hasn't forgiven me. You can imagine the looks and comments we got on the trip. :earseek:

It's been sitting in the garage; time for a yard sale.

As far as kitchen gadgets go, we have a cappucino machine and deep fryer that DH HAD to have, but they've only been used a couple of times. He's also used his waffle maker once. DH gave me a mandoline, and I've used it once.

We use our coffee maker and grinder daily, along with our toaster. The blender gets used a couple of times a month.

Salad Shooter -- yard sale
Bread Machine -- yard sale
Swiffer--in the closet....but I do use the wipes to hand clean the bathroom floor
T-fal deep fryer -- yard sale (Fry Daddy is easier)
George Foreman -- yard sale
Ice Cream Machine -- attic

ds insists he wants a "kraftmadic adjustable bed"--he sez "mom it prevents edema from occuring in the legs" (um-kid if you concerns about edema at 8 we need to talk :rotfl2: ).

love those infomercials

I think it was called the Twister. You put in hard store-bought Ice Cream & it comes out as Soft-Serve.

:rotfl2: What a waste of money!

HEY we have one of those.... but  haven't used it yet...Heck we finally took it out the box (to save room in the cabinets) last month.

But I will confess to owning several pampered chef items i've never used (two baking stones, gingerbread house maker, apple corer, chopper thing)

My in-laws gave us a potato maker one xmas that took three yard sales before it finally sold....

My mom loves her pampered chef baking stones.

But she bought that apple peeler/corer machine that looks more like a torture device. We tried it twice and decided it was a huge PITA. It would just make mush while spinning the apple around really fast.

Ok I have to ask, what is a potato maker?

this is reminding me of the scene in "benny and joon" where the guys play poker for various junk they have sitting around the house-"i bid one fry baby and my car top condom" "i'll see your fry baby and car top condom with my salad shooter and not one but TWO bloomin onion makers" :rotfl2:

i'll bring the chips-ya'll load up the mini vans and name the time and place :rotfl:

I had always wanted one of those hand blender wands.... finally got one at my bridal shower.... used once. I was actually really excited for it but it wasn't strong enough to blend anything and has sat in the cupboard ever since. I just don't have the heart to get rid of it since it was something I'd wanted for so long! Did anyone get one of those toasters that can cook eggs? Now thats a cool gadget!
