If someone in my family is attending a Disney conference, but I personally am not, can I still use the special conference tickets? The website says it's for atendees and family but it also says you have to show proof that you're attending the conference (which I'm not).

Does anyone have any expereince with this? Do they really ask everyone with conference tickets to show proof?

Thanks!

I think others have posted that you have to show some sort of conference credentials to use the tickets.

I'm attending a conference in January. I bought 3 tickets (one for me and two for family members) at the conference rate through Conventioneers. I am going to Disney for several days before the conference starts (so I won't have a badge yet or anything) and the CM said as long as one person is attending the conference for any part of the trip it is all perfectly legit.

P.S. Forgot to mention that the tickets will be placed on my KTTW key card, so I can't imagine they'd have any reason to know - ask for proof of conference attendance at the turnstile...

So as long as you or a family member is attending, they won't be asking for proof of conference attendace? So they wouldn't really have a way to check that, would they?

I mean - your family wouldn't have proof that they're attending (like myself) because they're not attending the conference, only you are. Right?

I just don't want to buy the conference tickets then have it turn into a mess since I, myself, am not actually attending the conference.

Edit: We wouldn't be staying at a Disney property. Does that change things?

All I know for sure is that I bought 5 day tickets for my husband and son and 3 for me (since I'll be at the conference) and she said that was perfectly fine. So they will be there 2 days without me and my proof of attendance.

I don't know about staying offsite since we are onsite. I get back on Jan 4 do you want me to PM you then to tell you how it worked for us?

If you don't mind, that would be awesome! I like to know what I'm getting into before I get there! :)

Thanks!

In the past I've bought & used conference tickets for myself, DH & DS - and only DH was attending the conference. I do think we had to prove he was attending the conference when the tickets were purchased (we purchased them at the concierge desk onsite) but after that there was never any question when we used them in the parks.

Do they really ask everyone with conference tickets to show proof?

1) If you buy tickets at Disney, they ask for proof WHEN PURCHASING.
2) If you buy at a convention or off-site resort, sometimes they do not.
3) In all cases, they DO NOT verify attendance when tix are used.

And I agree with all these comments.

I just purchased our tickets on the disney.meeting.com website for people visiting Central Florida for a convention and now i am worried. We got the tickets yesterday and they say: must be used by 12/31/2009.
My husband's convention does not start until 1/25/10 and we were not planning on going to the parks until after it ends on 1/27/10. Of course they are closed today since it is Christmas, but i am so worried because I paid $1300 for 5 tickets. When i purchased online there was no mention of any expiration date especially not 10 days. The only thing I could find was that I had 14 days from the 1st day used to use all the days purchased. If I can't get this fixed we will probably have to cancel our trip.. i can't afford another $1,300.

It appears as though the tickets for conventions vs regular looks to save us about $45 for two of us. I was hoping the discount was more than that. Are there restrictions on convention tix, ie: must be used after 3pm, etc? Anything like that?

For my DH's convention they offered three kinds:
1. All day tickets, you pick the # of days or park hopper
2. after 2pm tickets for a lower price
3. after 4pm tickets for an even lower price

So when you purchase your tickets just make sure you get the right ones.
Have fun!

And remember that Conference tickets

(a) cannot be upgraded or modified in any way once issued, and

(b) often will have "not valid before" and "not valid after" dates on them, usually a week on either side of the conference dates.
