Condom in bed..

You are probably right but something isn't sitting right with me on how they handled it. It is like they didn't get it (no harm no foul attitude). I would just want to make sure it went to the right people. Staff/management don't always want to deal with things they way they are supposed to.
Agreed. I could imagine hotel management trying to quietly tidy up this mess without letting upper WDW management know.

I could see it if it wasn't a condom. Body fluids have always been written up. Cockroaches, maybe not. But bodily fluids are taken seriously and I would bet that that housekeeper is either in for some serious retraining if not outright fired.

This is gross. So sorry this happened to you OP and despite being compensated by the upgraded room, I would complain to Disney in writing, complain on social media and the message board as you are doing. They need to get the message that poor housekeeping is not acceptable. What you experienced is beyond poor housekeeping....it's just gross.

WOW just wow, that's nuts

On a side note this is the perfect example of what I was talking about in another thread about tipping housekeeping and how I think the people who leave tips on the desk ahead of time vs waiting to see performance are crazy.

Am I the only skeptic to this story? Or maybe just naive that something this disgusting could actually happen?

If it was the only post, I would think the same. But they have one other post from last month. I find it a little odd that they make it sound like they were directed here over this when they had a preexisting account and the only other post makes it sound like they've lurked a long time. (Oh, man. You know you get too involved in chat boards when you actually find yourself wondering things like that).

I'm thinking if it's true, front desk screwed up. Somehow assigned a room that wasn't available. Because this is just huge stuff- it's like the room wasn't even made up let alone turned around.

"Palmetto Bug" is just a common nick name for the American Cockroach! Sorry for your troubles!
Actually - Palmetto Bug are Flying Cockroaches - ick

Eeeeewww. I hope you took photos of what your room was like. This wasn't just an ooops. It was evidence of extremely poor management from housekeeping. The person in charge of that department needs to be informed of how flawed their system at Pop is. Either the room was not cleaned at all in which case it shouldn't have been assigned or some really terrible housekeeper considered that "done." The upgrade to POR was an appropriate fix, room location notwithstanding.(You can't really do anything about the lack of car seats or the rain.) But, I would email the housekeeping department when I got home to inform them. If someone who worked for me was that incompetent, I would want to know.

Yeah, but housekeeping could be lacking anywhere. And there is more than one housekeeper working Pop anyway.

What would you do if this was in a normal hotel? I mean you'd be in another room at that hotel. Or they would clean that particular room and stick you back in it. You wouldn't get your money back just because you choose to walk away from the hotel based on that first room.
At any other hotel - at least with Hilton - I would have received a different room or an upgraded room and a complete refund for the night. We were at a Hilton in Phoenix on points and they messed up the billing...no biggie - I knew we weren't supposed to get charged. I just called customer service and they reversed the charged and also REFUNDED half the points for the entire stay...plus we got phone calls from corporate AND the hotel manager. I absolutely think that Disney should have upgraded her to a DELUXE and a given a full night's refund. If Hilton can do it - Disney can too!

I'm thinking this room was never even cleaned. Who gets the blame for assigning an uncleaned room?

I'm really not a complainer and can with the flow. Most things don't bother me. But with this I would've went bat shat crazy. A condom in the bed I put my kids in?? Yes I would've demanded to change hotels, not just rooms. And I would probably still be irate that entire night.

I do hold Disney to a higher standard. It's not just a hotel room. It's a vacation destination. They market it as part of the experience. With that experience I'm paying for an overpriced room, 2k in park tickets and an obscene amount of money in food.

I would expect them to go above and beyond for someone that found a dirty condom in their bed. She should've been moved to a deluxe and been driven privately, by a CM or manager, with her luggage to the new resort.

i was with someone in a connecting room that had a used condom in the bed, it was a five star resort

exactly, Disney always skimps on stuff like this and their other policies like not giving connecting rooms.
As an example on that point, Disney is the only place I have ever traveled that can't guarantee connecting rooms. Personally I feel it is on elf their game its to get people to upgrade to suites and milk more money out of them but whatever

it was "cleaned" I think because the sheets wouldnt have been made if not. The housekeeper just did a total crap job

Regrettably, Disney hotels are not the cleanest. We've stayed at POR, AKL, WL, and BC CL. None of the rooms would pass inspection in Europe. BC was the worst, dirty underwear with dead roaches in the corner of the room. We simply asked for a deep clean, and were given a bottle of wine the following day. As none of us drink, we returned the bottle to staff.

Wow. Whenever I think of Europe I think substandard and dirty. Can you use a better benchmark? Lol.

Why is there left behind underwear in rooms? And obviously rooms are not being cleaned in between guests?? How does that even happen?

I would probably find another hotel. My family used to be members of RCI if we didn't like a condo when we arrived we called RCI to get a new resort not just another dirty dated room.

Condom takes this over the top. I would be so freaked out just seeing it I would never feel comfortable and not completely freaked out over germs my entire stay.

I think if I just found it dirty and went and told them and they said oh sorry we sent you to wrong room that hasn't been cleaned yet and they had another room for me I wouldn't think much if it. But a used condom in the bed? Maybe I'll bring my own sheets. Geez.

You guys can blast me if you want but the more I think about a used condom... all I can say is pictures would have been taken and my booty would have had a comped deluxe stay.

So it's not just me. I was scratching my head over that too. I stayed in some really nice places in Europe but I didn't think they were any cleaner than most US hotels. In fact most of them looked dingier than your average American chain because renovations seemed less frequent.

I've never found previous guest's underwear even at the motel 6 that doesn't believe in mopping the floor between guests, so I'm not sure how that would happen either...

I don't think the OP said it was used and really comped delux stay over finding it not coming in contact with the bodily fluids? Not saying it is right that it was there but going from a value yo comped deluxe over any level of uncleaned room is a ridiculous ask.

Ok
1. Wow and ewww
2. I am happy they tried to make it up to you
3. I think they should have done the night comp too.

Now why is ever one all over her about trying to get something out of Disney. This is gross. The Higher ups need to know how bad the house cleaning is getting. I have read a few reports like this one in the last few months. I think what the OP should do is get this to the higher ups so that they can take action.

Oh. I thought it was used condom. You mean it was still in wrapper?

Yeah I said I would get blasted whatever.

My husband was staying at campground when hurricane Matthew came in. Without even being asked they comped him to CSR. That wasn't disney's fault. It was a hurricane. And they went above and beyond. My husband was there for a work conference so didn't really choose to vacay there at that time. We did not expect it. I was in computer trying to find him a hotel offsite. He didn't ask for it.

If disney will do that to take of a guest and they didn't do anything wrong then yes, I want a pretty nice stay if I find a used condom in my bed. More to the point that a manager assigned me to a room that had clearly and most definitely not been cleaned after the last guest.

Hey Jade. I agree. Now I have to make sure we go by room before dinner. Lol.

The campgrounds with the hurricane was due to a legitimate weather threat. That is standard procedure at the campgrounds. They basically dump all the camp grounds reservarions into any open hotel room. So some get value mosy get deluxe at CBR or CSR and a lucky few even get deluxe. It is about getting people to leave the camp ground. OP got moved to a moderate so 1 jump and 50% off the night. I would say perhaps 1 night free and of course not having to pay the difference between resort levels plus some goodies from the kiddos would be going above and beyond but what they got seems adequate.
