Good morning! :)

I'm looking at the possibility of attending a conference at the Gaylord Palms in September - there are quite a few of us attending, and it might be a better choice to stay in a condo nearby. The only problem is, I don't know what's near the Gaylord! If someone could give me a few suggestions of what's in that area, I'd appreciate it!

I'll be using www.govarm.com (CondoDirect) or www.afvclub.com (RCI) to book, if that makes any difference at all.

Orbit One and Silver Lake Resort are both very close to Gaylord Palms. Both of them come up frequently on skyauction, which I believe uses the same inventory as afvclub. We stayed at Orbit One in Dec, and it was very nice. Not luxurious, but very nice. Our neighbours stayed at Silver Lake a year or so ago and they really liked it.

You can check out reviews for both properties at www.tripadvisor.com.

Village Vacation at Parkway - just around the corner (okay a long, long corner)

forgot this is RCI.

it happens to be pretty nice. You will be pester to attend a sales pitch. just don't answer the phone.

Thanks! I'll check that one out - I know I've seen it on AFVClub in the past.

I keep thinking I should know what's near there, but without doing a search, I'm drawing a blank. LOL.

hey the only reason I know was when staying at VV I passed the Gaylord just about everyday going to WDW. the map (if you go to it) says Gaylord (road, aven ?) but the real name of the road is International Drive South.

how far is VV from there? I do know where that is, AND it's a available on Govarm for a steal!

edited to add: I found a good map of I-drive, and I think it's got all the information I need! :)

no this is in Kissimmee - go right out of the resort - at the traffic light turn left.

go under the overpass (i4) - turn left at the next light (this is International drive south in kissimmee not orlando) - pretty soon you will be seeing Gaylord on the left.

some of the villas at VV will see the Gaylord. maybe 2 or 3miles - not sure how long IDS is - that is the longest road between VV and Gaylord.

here is a map

look at the accomodations one

Vacation Villa are near 132, Gaylord is 73 - (for some reason alot of timeshares are left off of kissimmee maps)

big, huge DUH to me... I was thinking VV was Vistana Villages, not Vacation Villages. :sad2:

I do think I know where the Gaylord is, now. LOL... and there's not much else out there in the way of food choices. It's the resort and that's pretty much it, right?

at Gaylord yes. It is basically by itself.

but Vacation Villa has some things you can walk too.

a wendy, chicknlay, other nicer restuarants.

it is directly across the street from Arabrian Nights - so if you can do that one night.

VV has a shuttle that will take you to the Publix grocery store for free. (this is also on IDS)

One thing I didn't like about VV is no restuarant at the resort. So you either have to get grocery - or be prepared to eat out alot.
