Condo rentals near Universal? Or other accommodations?

Hi everyone,

We're a little late starting to plan our trip to Universal for this fall and I have so many questions! I'd like to get accommodation and flights organized first, so I'm looking for a great place for a family of five to stay.

For background, when we visited Disney three years ago we stayed at a condo in the Windsor Hills resort and it was great. I loved that we weren't all crammed into one room like in a hotel, I loved that we could easily eat breakfast without going anywhere. We saved a few dollars by cooking a couple of easy meals, and brought takeout back so we could just relax instead of hanging out in a restaurant. I'd be happy to stay there again, but my husband is worried about having to do a lot of driving.

Suggestions please!

The builder of WH also built Vista Cay which is on Universal Blvd. You won't find much in the way of this type of accommodation in the Universal area because of zoning laws in that county. Vista Cay is up within a few miles of Universal. I found a condo on vacation rentals by owner (VRBO).com. We head there on Saturday, so I will be sure to let you know how it goes!

I'd agree with sympatico Vista Cay is a great option as its really close to universal but if you are going to be visiting Disney again you are giving yourself a lot of driving the other as Windsor Hills is extremely close to Disney. Other option is Emerald Island, its similar distance to Disney than Windsor Hills but you might find it slightly cheaper and different seting, very tranquil, woodland walks etc all within confines of resort. You wont find condos in Emerald Island but there is a large selection of townhomes which would give you your own plunge pool.

I don't think the townhouses at Emerald Island have their own splash/plunge pools. You have to use the clubhouse pool for swimming.
