Condition of OKW

Glad to hear that so many folks are still having the same great experience at OKW that we always have .. and just had! As someone suggested in one of the replies, though ... let's just keep this between us so that others don't start booking up all of the reservations! ha

There were DVC members complaining about BLT a month after it opened. We have been staying at OKW since 1991, and the entire resort is wonderfully maintained. I think because some of the newer resorts have had more popular amenities (flat screen TV's, granite countertops, etc) that OKW was then deemed "dated". The renovations have dispelled some of this, but there are those who want the newest resort, and OKW will never satisfy that subset of members.

we appreciate the update of okw it will be our first time there at the end of may!!

We'll be there at the end of May too and it will also be our first DVC stay and its our home resort

We stayed in a renovated 2-bedroom villa last December and were VERY happy with it.

I still chuckle about negative comments about the blinds. They take a grand total of what, 45 seconds to raise and lower?

We've not had any issues with the blinds. We stayed in a HH studio last Christmas and found the Roman shades are another story. The pull chain is positioned so close to the shades that it chewed up my knuckles when I raised or lowered the units. The only solution that worked for me was to hold and maneuver the shade away from the French door while I used the mechanism to raise or lower them. A two-handed job to avoid skinned knuckles. We're staying in a studio this coming spring. We'll have a chance to see if perhaps it was a challenge in just that one unit or if its throughout the renovated units. Other than that we are extremely satisfied with OKW. I truly feel like I'm away from it all -- peace and tranquility after a day in the parks.
