Concierge service??

Thank you all for your helpful information regarding concierge service. We will be sailing in the Roy Disney suite in October 2009. This will be our FIRST DCL cruise so we are extra excited to be a part of this group!!! If anyone has any further information on "special" services that have been provided for them, PLEASE post them!!! Thanks again.

That sounds very nice, I am 'next' to it on my next cruise!! A few months before yours.

DH and I were in the Roy Suite Oct 4-11, 2008. Our concierge team Nombuso and Nicole went above and beyond for us!!!!! :) We liked them alot and saw them numerous times during the day!
On our first day, we went to the Concierge Reception where we met with Nombuso specifically. The reception was fun and we were able to secure some reservations and make special requests. I think the reception is a great idea to get to know your concierge team and vice-versa.
During our cruise, we had a wonderful concierge team who went above and beyond for us! They checked in on us each and every day and honored all of our requests. They even presented us with a beautiful lithograph on our last day and arranged a special Castaway Cay day breakfast in our Suite for some of our DIS Board friends!! :)

Sounds great where do they hold the reception on embarkation?

The Roy Disney Suite is Super! we had to try it at least once. It was worth it for us. On the EB we had a cat 3 with Nambosa and Nicole as our concierge team. The best so far.... we had to men (Richard and Jonathan, I think) last time, when we were in the RD Suite, and they were not very good IMO from the start to the end.. Nambosa and Nicole were wonderful.

Now I know people have posted aboe you do not tip the concierge team, could I ask you your views did you? or give a gift?

It's in Sessions, Andrew. :thumbsup2 There are snacks and drinks available plus the concierge team will have a print-out of your personal itinerary. You can make changes to your existing vacation plans, tell them if you're celebrating anything special, book onboard activities (wine-tasting, galley tour, Spa etc) directly with them (rather than going to Guest Services) and they will amend your itinerary accordingly... :goodvibes

Thank you Karen for me I am a suite 'virgin' but have 2009 and 2010 to get my self organised on that, I assume thats Cadilac lounge on the Magic.

From our understanding they all pool their tips between all the concierge teams. We wanted to reward our team so we gave them gifts that were individualized for them. Also a glowing letter to Captain Tom and Tom McAlpin with Nambosa and Nicole mentioned prominately. I know they get acknowledged and helps with promotions. Things you can't put a price on.
This is just our opinion and is not meant to create any animosity.

Sounds a great idea, thank you for sharing! Everyones input on these boards is most invaluable, and don't worry posting your views, I appreciate it, I try to help, and its nice to get help back.

Whilst I know a reasonable amount of stuff, Suite arrangements are very new to me.

I have 'bookmarked' this thread for August 09, for all the ideas. I will use yours and many others.

Thanks

I appoligize if this is in the wrong place,
Can Cat 3 request/choose dinning rotation??

we were in a cat 3 last time and we asked to have our rotation cahnged and they accomodated us. There were only 3 of us so it was a bit simpler.

I think this can be requested in advance and they tell you the rotations in advance. It was a suite cruiser in March that told this forum the rotations for the Mexican Rivera had changed.

A suggestion for the arcade cards...keep them separate from the room key. One card can impact the magnetic workings on the other one. That is what happened to us and after DS kept them in separate pockets, we had no issues.

We brought gift cards for the concierge team since we know they can't always accept cash. I brought different denominations, so I could adjust the amount I gave them to the level of service we received.

Once we brought VISA gift cards.

Another time we brought Wal-Mart gift cards. There is a Wal-Mart at the port. We took a picture of the ship from a previous cruise and made a Wal-Mart photo card with it and added our surname and cruise date so they had a memory of us when they used it.

It was held in one of the lounges, can't remember which one. It was very nice to be able to personally meet our concierge team and personally go over things such as Palo reservations, special requests, our personalized itinerary, shore excursions, spa reservations, Galley tour, etc. Nombuso was very organized and she was the best!!! We were very lucky to have her and Nicole as our team. They stopped by numerous times throughout the day and if we weren't there, they left a note or called us later in the evening!

So for those of you who request specific rotations... which ones do you request and why?

We had the Walt Disney Suite so we had the concierge service (which was awesome) They held the concierge check-in in Palo's. They had a nice finger sandwich and fruit buffet so we had something to snack on while we signed up for all our activities. They were extremely helpful and took lots of time answering all our questions (even some we didn't have) In my honest opinion. Disney goes above and beyond especially with their concierge service.

Ohhhhhh...... I will love that.... cross fingers for August now set my expectations high!!!!

Thanks
