Concierge service??

this is our 2nd cruise, the 1st was 4 night. It was also cat 3, but I didn't feel like we took full advantage of the service.

We went to the concierge reception upon boarding and had them set up the following:

Wine tasting event
Gally tour
Standing order for cookies and milk delivered to the room at 9pm every night for the kids.
Standing order for coffee and juice delivered to the room every morning.
Spa reservations

We had Palo and excrsions booked in advance at 105 days already but they can help you with that as well.

You can register for kids club at the concierge reception

One great thing that I had not heard prior to going is that on ports you have to tender you call the concierge when you are ready to tender to shore. They will tell you where to meet the concierge to be put on right on a tender boat. No lines - no waiting for tickets in the theatre.

You will get things throughout your stay like fruit or snacks left in your suite and arcade cards for the kids.

Now do you 'tip' for these things, or give usual or enhanced 'tip' at the end of the cruise, and is the 'wet bar' stocked/included.

THANK YOU

We really didn't use them much. We did use the ipods they had available. They gave the kids all kinds of gifts. You can book extra Palo reservations. We did an extra brunch one but had to cancel because there is so much else to do. I'm sure if you wanted to do a DIS meet in your room they would help you out. We liked the bigger room more than anything.

They do include a wet bar that had an assortment of canned soda products at the start of our cruise. They did not replenish the stock but I didn't ask. I'm sure if I asked they would have. They were very accomadating...

Thank you for that, how did you order the extra Brunch, on ship through Concierge?

we did recieve a nice print on our last night. I have heard that you can order from an expanded room service menu...is this true??

Yes... when you board the ship you'll meet the Concierge staff in a private room. They will have snacks and beverages out (which we didn't know so, we went to the buffet first). Anyways, at that time you can ask for extra bookings at Palo. They will also ask what they can do to make your cruise special, etc... We really didn't have any ideas. But we were able to get all of the special event tickets like galley tour, martini tasting, Tea with Wendy, etc at that time too.

I know, that some people get the conceirge number prior to sailing. I wonder if you can ask prior to sailing.

We were on the Med. cruise so, I did book our Palos (Brunch, Dinner & Afternoon Tea) & all of our tours at the 105 day mark.

I was in the 11 night starting July 7th. We had a fablous time. I loved Europe and I can't wait to visit there again. It really changed my perception of the world.

It was a great cruise, and loads of people enjoyed it, it was great for so many people from America to come over and enjoy our part of the world.

Thank you for your great information, Appreciated!:thumbsup2

Concierge decline tips. It's part of the service. On the other hand, if they've done something quite special for you, I'd want to tip for going 'above and beyond.'

I understand that if you offer the tip several times, they are allowed to accept (I believe on the third offer) - but that may be an old DIS's tale!

There have been some great threads about tipping Concierge.

I agree with this post - you don't need to tip them unless they've done something very, very special for you.

And remember.....sometimes the Concierge staff are officers and you never tip an officer.

And speaking of tips....here's a good tip.....you know how you get a plate of goodies every afternoon. You can request what you'd like. For example, you always get a plate of chocolate covered strawberries. One time I got a plate of vanilla chocolate covered strawberries. No one in our family likes that so last cruise I requested no vanilla chocolate. Ended up with a gigantic plate of dark chocolate strawberries. Took a couple of days to eat them all.
