Please bear with me for a bunch of concierge questions from a wishful thinker:)

Are AP codes (when they are offered) only good on standard rooms or do they also offer discounts on concierge rooms?

Also, I am attempting to find concierge rates on Disney's website (specifically for WL but also did a search on Deluxes in general) but it only keeps showing suites at AKL--does that mean there are no concierge rooms available the first week of December or is this another example of the Disney website having issues?

And while I have you here...anyone with experience with WL's concierge service. Did you find it saved enough money on food/drinks to make the extra $100 night worth it? (I stayed at GF concierge years ago as a teenager and recall eating more than my fill from the concierge offerings but can't recall how it impacted our meals) I could see us using if for breakfast nearly every day (except for our hoped for CRT PS) since our kids would be totally content with what is offered and on allears the reviews made it sound like the soup, appetizer and cheese/veggie offerings made enough of an evening meal for light eaters (which describes us). Our main meal is typically a late lunch anyway since it is cheaper and when we are most hungry.

It sounds ridiculous that someone trying to save money would think of concierge as an option but I'm figuring that if we do the MYW w/ meals we would pay rack rate on the room plus $115 for meals (3 adults and 1 child)--if we could get an AP rate on concierge and didn't opt for the meal package the money isn't tremendously different plus we would have the other concierge benefits it would just mean the difference of how much we would spend on food at that point.

My goal for this trip is an experience that will wow my un-Disney-experienced dh and make him realize this is such a great place that he'll want to go at least every 3 years all while still sticking to my budget. I'm not sure if I can swing that and do concierge but I'm willing to look at every option to get the most bang for my buck--any advice? Thanks!

Can't answer ALL your questions, but we have stayed concierge at the Polynesian, Contemporary, AKL, BWI and Yacht Club and have always been able to get an AP rate - some better than others depending on the time of year. We book everything through a local travel agent and she continuously checks rates for us. (She just e-mailed that she got us an AP rate for the Polynesian for our upcoming trip in April - it wasn't available before)

We have never stayed at the WL so I have no experience with their concierge lounge. Just my opinion, but with kids your kids ages I would stay at the Polynesian concierge. You have your own building, you are on the monorail, the lounge is two floors and very kids friendly and the food offererings are good. My kids (now 6 & 10) love that resort! The pool is zero entry and that is great with the little ones. You can also have a blast with the water mice and ride over near the MK and the GF.

Good luck with whatever you choose! :)

P.S. I also have a Princess Grace! :Pinkbounc

Becca Grace, I am glad you started this thread because I am interested in the responces too. I have not stayed at WL, but have booked poly conceirge for April for the reasons that Jesw has stated.

I was wondering how soon after you make your ressies does the conceirge staff contact you?

We are going in June of this year, originially we were going to stay WL concierge, it was not listed on the disney website, but when I called it was available. Also when I was searching online it was also only coming up with the Animal Kingdom. When I called, all of the concierge rooms at Poly and Contemporary were sold out. So it may be that there are none available. But if you are wanting WL, call and they may have it over the phone. Hope this helps.

the downside of concierge vs. MYWw/D is that you are tied to being at your resort to get the "meal" benefit out of it... sure, breakfast is easy to be at the resort for, but the evening snacky stuff, well, more nights than not we would probably be out and about and miss out on the "free" stuff and have to pay elsewhere... i don't picture dragging my kids away from a parade or firework show NOW because they are hungry, kwim?

Just to answer another concierge question.. The staff at the different concierges are NOT consistent in contacting you. If you haven't heard from the staff then contact THEM! And have all your requests ready - I always love it when they can make all our p.s's - and if there isn't an availability for something you want at a certain time they can put you on a waiting list. That happened to us the two times we reqested breakfast at the castle and both times we got in.

You might want to check out this thread for concierge contact information, Useful Concierge Link. As Jill mentioned, they are not consistent on when or if they contact you first. I'd recommend sending an e-mail to get the ball rolling.
