Concierge question...

Thank you @auntlynne @Lucien Franciosa @lanejudy — I did call Disney yesterday, our PIF is 120 days and we can change around the deposit until 120 days without penalty but after that we lose our entire deposit.

Incidentally (unlike other lines we have sailed in the past), we could not add trip insurance before final payment because we had already made a payment, so we ended up purchasing cancel for work reason insurance from a 3rd party travel insurance co.

Because you had already made final payment, right? Not just a payment. The DCL-offered insurance can be added prior to PIF date or when final payment is made. Interim payments can be made between deposit and final payment, with insurance added prior to final payment.

I thought with concierge rooms it had to be added with the deposit because the deposit is non refundable...but I might be crossing all my wires.

Possibly for concierge; I was just thinking in general it can be added up until final payment.

And you are correct... from DCL's website (bolding is mine):
The plan may be added to your reservation as an option to your online cruise reservation, by requesting it with your Travel Agent or by calling (800) 951-3532. Payment for the Vacation Protection Plan must be made by the earlier of: the final payment date; or, the date any charges on the reservation become non-refundable, such as Concierge deposit or air cancellation fees for Restricted Fares.

I had only made the deposit, which is why I was surprised. I actually still haven’t made final payment as of today…trying to decide if I want to keep and roll the dice or modify.

I think you are right, or at least this is what I have been told by my TA 4 times now :) But she has been wrong before :(
