Concierge - comparisons

Bakerswife - ITA with Anne. Value and Villas are going to be a very different experience. I also agree with other posters like Goodferry & Tammi - it's really going to depend on your taste. Is there any particular resort that appeals to you? Do you prefer to stay near a particular theme park or are you flexible? We all have our favorite resorts for a variety of reasons. Have you been able to narrow your choices down to a few yet? If so, please post so we can all chip in our opinion.

Anne - I agree with you on the WL CL. I just wasn't thrilled with it at all. Even with a new lounge, they lacked something the other resorts had - service. I think their lounge looks nice and all. Not trying to be a flamer or to say I wouldn't stay at WL. I most definitely would, but it would be in a regular courtyard room.

Here's to wishing to be able to hit the Poly next summer - FINALLY!

Well, we like themeing! I think that I would love AKL however I do not want to be just on a bus route, that is my issue with that.

We like to be close to the parks and not just a bus ride away, so that puts us at MK or Epcot. I think I am leaning towards Poly or GF, but maybe favoring Poly when it comes to MK. Are there a lot at Epcot hotels that have conceirge. I have not really even thought about that as I always only thought of the "big 3" as having it.

Thanks.

YC, BC, and BWI all have concierge levals, as do the Swan and Dolphin. In fact all WDW deluxe resorts offer concierge.

And the "big 3" as you put it are not really all that. In fact the WL and AKL are generally the two top ranked resorts at WDW in various reader/traveler polls.

All deluxe resorts have concierge service. BTW, the bus service at AKL was superb. You don't share with any other resorts. It's dedicated to the Lodge only. We never had a problem with buses not running frequently enough.

Poly would probably get the vote for MK area and I'd say BWI for Epcot area. BWI has a nice pool with the clown head slide. Their staff and IPO is excellent. If you choose BWI, seek Lorenzo and/or Steve out - both these guys are a hoot! The BWI pool bar is terrific. I even had quite a bit fun on the waterslide (other parents were doing it too). The bartenders took really good care of us. In case these things are important to you. ;) I can't comment on the Poly since I haven't stayed :guilty: but many have stayed and loved it. The Poly and BWI are a good fit for kids activity wise and both are in great locations if you're leaning towards MK or Epcot areas.

If you're looking for complete, total relaxation then don't worry about bus transportation and hope over to AKL. The kids are ususally memorized by the animals. Their pool is nice and the staff terrific. They have lots of activities for the kids and you'll be able to participate in sunrise safari.

Come on, guys let's help this poster out. Put your vote in now. :earboy2: You know me - I love them all for their own unique characteristics.

BWI, YC, and BC all share the same IPO and I totally agree top notch. The IPO at AKL didn't dissappoint either. Had issues with the IPO at the Polynesian, and GF totally dropped the bomb so we cancelled our trip and changed to the BWI.

It sounds like you have made some good choices already. If AKL and it's Sunrise and Sunset Safari appeal to you go for it. The bus service is graet altought the resort is a little out of the way.

We did a split with AKl/BC(wouldn't do BC again) and it worked out perfectly. You might want to try an MK/Epcot resort split if you can.

My vote goes to the YC. I love the area and the pre-planning group is the best there is. Of course they also service the BC and BWI. I like the decor and full balconies at YC too. Location can't be beat. I had some bad experiences at Poly and while there are those that love it, I do not. I do like visiting there for dinner though.

I think that the "big 3" thing is that they are on the monorail routes. I have never stayed in any of them. Have stayed at WL and AKL and loved both.

:wave2:

I have only stayed AKL concierge, so I can't comment on the others, but AKL concierge ROCKS. We loved it, and to allay your fears about being on a bus-only route...Since AKL does not share its buses with other resorts, the bus service is pretty efficient. Not a lot of waiting, not usually crowded and not slow. Anyway, good luck with your decision whatever it is, but you can't go wrong with AKL concierge. :goodvibes

I've stayed at all of them except BWI ( I wil be there this Aug) and I have to say that the GF RPC is the best for a variety of different reasons. The lounge offerings and the presentation of them are varied and even elegant. The staff always seems friendly and professional. On the occasion that a problem did arise it was handled promptly, courteously and genrously. In fact one time, (I have stayed RPC 3 times) at check in, a line started to form. Two more CMs came out from an office and easily handled all of us. We wound up waiting no more that 5 min.. In fact I have never waited more than 15 min. at any resort when staying concierge.
