Concierge/Club Level Information - Part III (October 2010)

I need so help with ideas. I want to ask IPO at CR to do something in the room for my kids and my DH when we get there. When we were going to stay at BC I was going to do a beach theme and had it set with IPO there but we changed resorts and now I am at a loss.

DD is 3, DS is 2 so they just love anything Disney. I am having a cake delivered to the room the night we get there before fireworks. I don't want to go over the top but can anyone give me some ideas? And will CR IPO help me with this like BWI and BC do? Thanks everyone.

The things planned by PixarMom and some other people over on the BC/YC thread have me wanted to do something super special but since this is my first time to Disney in 13 years, I am at a loss for ideas.

We are officially booked for our first ever CL stay! I am so excited. The available AP rates for our dates were only for Garden Suites at BWI so we are paying more than what we planned per night but less than the standard rack rate CL room I had originally booked. If something else pops up before our trip, we'll probably rebook but I won't complain about staying in a Garden Suite!

I am so excited to try CL for the first (and frankly, probably the only) time!

Hi WsPrincess! I just saw your post and thought I'd offer a couple suggestions based on some of my research and discussions with IPO. They said lots of guests request Mickey ear hats with the kids' names embroidered on them, and I think that's a great idea. Especially with kids ages 3 and 2, it's just nice not to stand in line at the hat shop at MK and have those ears ready to go at the start of your trip! And little ones in ear hats are just too cute! Maybe a small Mickey plush, a treat (we chose rice krispie treats) and a t-shirt. I know you aren't staying at BC/YC, but many of those items in the BC Marketplace photos will also be available at CR, so you might take a look at those photos I took in February for some age-appropriate treat ideas. And if you go to disneystore.com and check the "parks" section, you'll find examples of the types of shirts that are available. All these items would be both festive and useful, so that's probably what we would do for a small surprise for little ones! Good luck with your planning!

P.S. Please keep us posted on your plans and your CR stay! Our boys would love to stay at CR someday, so we're adding that to our list and may do a split stay at some point with a couple nights at CR before BC!

Just wanted to chime in on how pleased I am with the IPO for GF.

They are really doing a great job for me, even with my ADR changes and my little "could you please check on" emails that I've sent them.

I couldn't be happier with GF's IPO.

I was wondering if it's possible to request a king size bed room ?

We aren't traveling w any kids this trip and I'd really like 1 bed instead of 2

And does anyone have any ideas on what the evening offerings are ?

We have stayed CL @ the Poly and Gf ~ I am familiar w those just not AKL .

I want to cry. I have been doubting switching from BC to CR and now I am really thinking it was a mistake. I emailed to ask about getting Mickey Ears and plushes for the kids and they said they cannot help me with that, it has to go through Disney Florist. Also I asked about Chocolate milk for the kids and the answer was you can ask there but there is no guarantee for it but you can have groceries delivered. BC IPO was so nice and helpful and with CR I feel like they don't care and don't want to help. This won't ruin my trip but I definitively have a bad taste after this last email.

That doesn't sound right @ all~ now, I have never stayed @ the CR but have stayed CL @ the Poly and GF and we have had ears and plushes picked up by the IPO staff and left in room for us while @ the Poly. At the GF I did use the WDW florist as wanted little gift baskets

Can't comment on the chocolate milk~ but I'm pretty sure it's sold in the quick service food area

One thing I can say for sure is that the Contemporary does have Chocolate Milk in their lounge so that's one thing you don't need to worry about.

Sometimes, even at CL, there are CMs that are less than stellar. These folks tend to not want to be bothered with doing the "extra" things a guest might request. One year a Polynesian CL CM tried to tell me that she couldn't purchase items any longer. Further, that I would have to buy the overpriced Disney Florist junk rather than selecting specific items for the CL CMs to purchase. I went over her head and asked when the policy changed since I had done pre-arrival gifts purchased during my many prior visits. I was informed that there was no policy change and they would be more than happy to accommodate my requests.

I have always told others who ask that you need to be persistent and tell these CMs who try to force Disney Florist on them; thanks, but no thanks, I prefer to have you purchase the items I choose. Further that you really aren't interested in the overpriced Disney Florist gift items but prefer items that have meaning for your family. Simply put, don't let them tell you they "can't" do it, because they can and will if you put your foot down, politely.

You know that your next trip to WDW is close when they send you that e-mail saying online check-in is now available for you to do and with some last minute reminders. Well today we got that e-mail, however since were staying Club Level at the Boardwalk Inn we are not planning to do online check-in.

You're welcome and just because you are having a hard time with the CR IPO, just remember those are not the Club Level Cast Members you will see in the lounge. I can speak from personal experience that they are very good and always willing to help you out with whatever you need.

Sorry to hear about all your stress. I do think you do need to go through The Disney Florist or another group. Maybe at one time the IPO could do these little extras, but I don't believe that can anymore.

We have done 5 CL stays, never had any problems, I do think that sometimes these boards give out the wrong impression on what the IPO's can do. While I've never stayed at CR and have had no dealings with them. I book through Dreams Unlimited and they make all my arrangements.

Last September there were a few request I wanted and I called the resort myself, explained what I wanted and they gave me the info on how to do the things I was looking to have done. None of my request went through the IPO's.

I also have found once there the IPO's are completely different. Don't know why but I've found once you've checked-in they are very helpful.
