It was reported that the renovations to the Tower Club 14th floor had stopped for a short time and that's why the Atrium Club 12th floor became available for some dates. However it was also reported once the renovations re-start on the 14th floor then the 12th floor would once again be closing, so maybe they are planning that for September 1, 2011.

That is probably what is happening. I just think it a little strange that they would begin again over a holiday weekend. :confused3 I am going to keep checking and see if they add a few dates.

thanks for all your help...would you do Jiko over Yachtsman?

With all your Table credits, yes I would.
We stayed at the YC last trip and we had planned on dinner there.
We walked in and checked things out and changed our minds.
The atmosphere just was too blah for disney (for us anyway, you can eat at places like that anywhere).

But Jiko, the menu is so different.
The taste of africa is fun.
http://allears.net/menu/menu_jiko.htm

for the kids ask for some zebra domes from next door at Boma.
I'm sure they will find some for you.

But then when I want a good steak, I pick out my steak and grill it myself :)

I prefer Yachtsman.

I haven't been to Yachtsman...yet, but I have been to Jiko, and it was one of the worst on-site dining experiences I've had. I wasn't impressed and I was very poor afterwards. I won't go back.

For those more in the know than I, if you had to choose between a deluxe room at the Boardwalk or Beach Club which would you pick and why? Is the Boardwalk bigger? Price is about the same and both are club level. Just wondering if it's worth it to switch to Boardwalk since I know overall location is about the same. Are deluxe rooms in Boardwalk closer to lounge? And is Boardwalk lounge bigger (here too-small tales of Beach Club)? But then there's weird-me-out clown pool instead of nice pool at Beach Club. Pros and cons, please. (I can never just make up my own mind.)

We just booked deluxe club level rooms for the Boardwalk Inn over Christmas. I did most of the ADRs (including spending an hour getting the Candlelight Processional) on my own, but when I called back for Tutto Italia (which I had first tried to book online, but the system wouldn't do 11 people) the 407-WDW-DINE CM said I had to call the restaurant directly, which I did. The restaurant CM told me there was NO December availability. I had almost given up when I remembered as I was booking the CP they gave the IPO number. I called them and a very helpful CM said, well of course, Tutto Italia only books up to 8 people together, so let me get you a 6 and a 5, and did, for just the time we wanted. Already worth it!

At the Boardwalk Inn their Deluxe Rooms are located on the 3rd and 4th floor. Now the 4th floor is also where the lounge and Deluxe Rooms up there is located just past the door which says Innkeepers Club. I should also mention the balconies are bigger for the ones located on the 3rd floor, so that means the ones on the 4th floor are smaller. Another great thing is all those rooms come with a view of the Boardwalk. Finally when going from the 3rd floor to the lounge on the 4th floor their Deluxe Rooms are located close to a set of stairs, because it's a fair walk to their elevators.

At the Beach Club their Deluxe Rooms are located between the 1st and 4th floors, so you need to take the elevator when going to the lounge on the 5th floor. For our Club Level reservation there next month we were originally going to reserve their Deluxe Room, however we didn't want to take a chance and get a room on the 1st floor. So that's why we paid a little more for their Lagoon View - Club Level Room and made sure we are staying on the same floor as the lounge.

We have stayed at the Innkeeper's Club at the Boardwalk twice (2004 and 2010) and loved it both times. We were actually considering Beach Club or Yacht Club this trip just to try something different (and for the pool), but we need 6 people in a room instead of 5 now and the Boardwalk will do this in the deluxe club rooms, but the BC & YC won't/can't. We really like the location (but that applies for both resorts). Also all the Boardwalk Inn deluxe club level rooms (as far as I can tell--I think there aren't that many of them, because we've stayed in the same room both times) have boardwalk views (which I think is superb; the sound has never bothered me, but some may be more sensitive)--some are on the 3rd floor and some are on the 4th floor with the Concierge Lounge. If you happen to be on the 3rd floor, make sure you take the stairs to the Concierge Lounge--the elevator is a bit of a hike on both floors (i.e. we were almost directly under the lounge but it was a far walk to the elevator and then we had to walk it back again!). I've never been to the Beach Club, but we haven't gone wrong with the Boardwalk Inn!

Thanks for the info. Does anyone have a link to any photos of the Boardwalk deluxe rooms? I did a search but couldn't find any. And are the Boardwalk rooms a bit bigger, as they appear? (I see they have a sofa bed in lieu of a daybed.) For half the stay it will be just me any my son and for other half there will be five total (2 adults, 3 kids), so extra room would be good. We were thinking one adult and one preschooler (moms and their respective little ones) in each bed and the pre-teen on the daybed or sleeper sofa.

Is the walk to Epcot/Hollywood Studios longer/shorter from either Beach Club/Boardwalk? Does Boardwalk view overlook the water (I'm trying to picture it)? Can you see fireworks from the room? Is the Innkeeper lounge larger and does it have a children's area?

Obviously, Beach Club wins on pool area (especially for little ones) but does Boardwalk have something I don't know about, including access to a sand area, which for some reason my son is very obsessed about.

As for lounge locale, I wasn't worried about it, until I read about people saying the Beach Club hallways are endless and thinking I'd have to hike them over and over again with a tired little one worn out by the parks.

Thanks!

Yes, the Boardwalk view overlooks the water and the boardwalk. I don't believe there is access to a sand area at the Boardwalk, but I know there is at the Beach Club.

We didn't find the Beach Club lounge to be that small. We felt the Yacht Club lounge was smaller. The deluxe rooms at the Beach Club can be VERY far away from the lounge, so that is a bit of a con.

In reference to the Boardwalk Inn: I should have taken more pictures last time we were there (sorry about the people in the one below). I don't know what the regular rooms look like, but ours had two queen beds (with a TV) and a pull-out sofa bed (with its own TV) and a very nice balcony overlooking the boardwalk. This picture is taken from the sofa bed area (I'd say maybe mid-way through). The balcony's behind the photographer, who is looking towards the door to the hallway.

I didn't mind the walk to the lounge--especially after we started taking the stairs. If your kids are too tired (especially when you've got two adults there), you could always send one up for snacks while the other waits in the room with the kids....

I don't remember any sand area at the pool. I felt the pool area was really cool, and I'm hoping to use it more in our next trip (especially since we won't be going to a water park this time).

Here is a link to the phots of the Boardwalk Inn from Allearsnet and their is a seperate category for their Deluxe Rooms, titled #3227.

Yes the Boardwalk Inn Deluxe Rooms overlook the water which is Crescent Lake. However when watching the fireworks for Illuminations you would need to see them from the lounge. However from their rooms over looking the Boardwalk/Crescent Lake you might also see the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom off in the distance behind the Swan & Dolphin, which I have seen in the past.

When it comes to the walk to Epcot everyone says the Beach Club is closer and looking at a map it is, however it's only taken me 5 minutes and I can't see a difference. As for going to Hollywood Studios the Boardwalk is the closest resort to there when using the walkway.

The Innkeepers Club lounge is of good size. They didn't have a specifc kids area set up with little tables for them, however you can sit on their couches in front of TV when eating in there.

Thanks for the link. That's very helpful.

So the Innkeeper's lounge has a fireworks view? Do they pipe in the music/soundtrack?

You're welcome and yes since the Innkeepers Club has a view of the France Pavilion you can see Illuminations from their balcony. They don't pipe in the music/soundtrack like the Magic Kingdom Resort Club Level lounges, however you can still hear it off in the distance.

We haven't stayed at BWI yet (next month!) but as I mentioned over on the BC/YC thread, we stayed in a BC deluxe room in February. The BC deluxe room seems much bigger than the BWI deluxe room appears in the photos. In the BC deluxe, our kids had lots of space to play in front of the beds and in front of the daybed/coffee table sitting area. It was so much bigger than a regular hotel room in every direction - not just a double-long room, but seemed like a double-wide room, too. We also had a ton of space behind the double sinks (with an additional chest of drawers) and a tiled entry hallway into the room. I'm guessing the reason the BC deluxe room sleeps five instead of six is just bed configuration, not square footage. But we were in 4557, which is located near the quiet pool - I'm not sure if the other BC deluxe rooms have that same kind of square footage.

Another difference is the one CR Fan mentioned above - BC has a little kids' area with kid-sized tables and chairs and a counter with kid-sized chairs. It has a separate TV playing Disney channel movies and shows. The sofa and tables and chairs in the front of the lounge are located near a TV that usually has news or sports on. I understand BWI does not have a similar kids' area, but the lounge looks bigger and has a view of Illuminations from the balcony. I think we'll have a great time at BWI, and I know the kids will enjoy the BWI lounge, but our pre-schooler might miss the kiddie area a little.

Thanks. I had just asked on the Beach Club thread about the deluxe rooms, because the only pics I found make the Boardwalk room look MUCH larger, with that separate alcove and TV area where the sleeper sofa is.

The best benefit, for me, of the club lounge was the fact that my preschooler met other kids to interact with just about every day at the Polynesian in that little kids' area which, when I saw it, didn't seem very impressive, but always had at least one or two other >10 year olds every time we went in. My little one is very social (unlike his mama) so that was the bees knees for him.

I really wish I took photos of that room - it would make it so much easier to demonstrate! BC room 4557 had a separate alcove, too, but the room was much wider than BWI deluxe room appears. The BC deluxe room also has windows/patio doors all the way down the room, instead of at the end, so that added to our perception that the room was huge. (Can you tell how much I liked that room? :) ) Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find photos of our deluxe BC room anywhere and many posters have asked about it. So I wish I had another chance, but we booked standard CL at BWI and garden CL at BC next month.

As I mentioned on the BC/YC thread earlier, our pre-schooler is also highly social and had a ball in the BC club lounge with other kids and adults! He's so social, in fact, that I'm guessing he will have a good time anywhere! :)

P.S. I just saw that thread with the old BC deluxe room and there must be a huge difference in BC deluxe rooms if that's still classified as a deluxe. Room 4557 is much bigger than the room in those photos, and I think that 3557, 2557 and 1557 have similar layouts.

I can kind of see what you're saying about the width from the limited pics I've seen. I will say though that the alcove seating area seems like more usable space (i.e. an actual separate area of use) than the width thing.

Maybe I am looking at it wrong though? A big balcony + nice weather would make that area like a sitting area. I was thinking about my friend and I having a place to go and chat just slightly away from the kids. Maybe while they're sleeping.

Do any of the WL standard CL rooms have king size beds? I was going to call and request one, but didnt know if there are any.

Does the WL have roll away beds?
