I hemmed and hawed way too long...the SL room I called about this morning is booked! I'm so disappointed! Do you think there is a chance the availability may open up? Is it worth calling again every day?? I'm so disappointed!!!

ugghhh!!! I did that too. I got a 40% off room only pin and booked BC CL, then switched to YC CL because DH saw photos and like the Yacht Club a little better, plus we have heard that the YC may be a bit quieter than the BC at times so it appealed to us. We have stayed at AK in the past but our last 3 stays were POLY CL and we have loved it there.

My 10 year old keeps saying I wanna go back to Disney and I really wanna stay at the Polynesian again. I started to panic because we never stayed at an Epcot Resort, but we spent so much time at Epcot on the last trip that I thought it was a good call, however getting to Epcot from the Poly is so convenient too... so I kept second guessing my decision! Plus since we are so familiar with the POLY, I was feeling a little concerned stepping outside of my "comfort zone". I did the math, and the total overall additional cost for the Poly was less than $200 for the whole trip so I called... sold out!!!:scared1: I called again a few days later... sold out :scared1:. The CM I spoke to said that because they only allocate a certain number or room categories for these codes, that if someone else cancelled or changed their ressie, it wpuld probably go back into regular inventory since the pin code is now expired!!

So I was kind of bummed at first, but after reading through this thread and thinking about all of the things there are in this resort area, I am really excited to stay at YC for the first time:cool1:n

One of the things I do love about Disney is that there are so many things to do. No matter how many times we go, we always do at least one thing that we havent done before!!!!:thumbsup2

Oh yeah, up ALL night and she is still wide awake. Do you have any idea how bad these all nighters are for my wallet?! :rotfl: I bought a new airbrush system during our all night nurseathon (I do freelance makeup on the side) and...well let's just say I should have just paid a chunk of our trip off instead of shopping. :rolleyes1 It's those darn infomercials at night! They're the only thing on and they peak my interest in something and then I end up buying a ton of other junk. There's nothing else to do in the middle of the night...except eat, however I need to burn this baby weight so I guess shopping is the lesser of the two evils...unless I was buying food.

I'm sorry you were up all night. And, I just realized that when I wrote that you "have to save something for your next visit," I was referring to a GF room category and not money. Hope you didn't get the wrong idea and I hope you get a nice nap today:goodvibes.

Are you mocking me? I feel like you are. Why?
:confused3 I don't understand what you mean by mocking you.

I tried to make a little joke about downgrading because you asked if you could downgrade to SL after booking the RPC. I put quotation marks around "downgrade" because SL isn't really a downgrade except that it's cheaper and not in the main building, otherwise, the CLs are identical.

I just did it. I booked RPC. Wow. That hurt. LOL! Thanks for all your help! Now I have to read this over and over, so I can get all the good tips out of it! ;-)

Beckie, congrats!!! Hey, I found you here - I am momathome on GR. ;) Can I tell you how exicted I am to stay in a deluxe club level room at the Boardwalk? I am totally jealous that you are staying in RPC, how amazing to get to stay in the main building at GF!:lovestruc

Yay! When are you going? I'm excited now, too. It will be convenient with Sarah being so little!

I have to put my 2 cents in. WDWKOOK would not mock you. She was just pointing out that you wanted SL if it came available. I don't want you to take what she said wrong, if you read her other posts, you'll see she's a sweetie AND funny:lovestruc

Congrats on RPC. Enjoy your trip! We were RPC(with a discount) but switched to a suite in SL (no discount, but I have little ones and wanted to all be together). The IPO have been great. I really doubt you can go wrong with either CL. Can't wait to hear your review of GF:thumbsup2

disneydreamin247 Sorry you are still up, like WDWKOOK said, Hope you get a good nap in:grouphug:

Congrats!! RPC is :cloud9: We stayed for 10 nights for my birthday a couple of years ago and I will never forget it. The lounge ladies are so sweet and the desk CM's are top notch. You will LOVE it there! :goodvibes

We recently won a vip trip to Disney through AOL travel and I have a question about club level at GF. Are there standard AND deluxe club level rooms? I was told we are in a standard club level but if there is a deluxe what is the difference?

We will be going November 4 - 9 this year and are Soooooooo excited!!! Thank you for your help.

Help mah, help mah! ;)

I've consulted the acronym guide to no avail; please someone tell me what "SL" and "RPC" stands for ... something Grand Floridianesque. So being related to the GF, it must be helluva nice but what exactly does it mean?

My brain can't handle many complicated processes pre-coffee. Basic speech function and motor skills are pushing it.

All this GF talk has me wondering if that might potentially be up for consideration upon our next *cough* trip. Gotta check out the BC first. Man, I'm so glad the hubster doesn't read the DIS boards.

SL = Sugar Loaf - a freestanding CL building at GF.

RPC = Royal Palms Club - the CL in the main building at GF.

SL- Sugar Loaf. Its the outer lodge club level building

RPC= Royal Palm Club. Its the club level in the Main building. There are only CL rooms in the Main building.

See above reply for the acronyms :thumbsup2

Thank you for your help with the GF CL questions.

Are the deluxe rooms in the main building better? Is it nearer the lounge? Better views? I have time to make changes and we want this to be EXTRA special. Any advice on which rooms and buildings to request would be great!

missoutandabout and spreadingpixiedust Check out the GF thread. It's a lot of great info and pictures. Not to mention they are all really nice and helpful over there:thumbsup2

And congrats on scoring that prize spreadingpixiedust! Nice!!!!

Sorry-you know how the internet is, I felt like you were making fun, somehow- And no, I don't think I can "downgrade". I know everything is the same, by downgrade, I meant, you know, go cheaper with SL! LOL!

Another question-I have read that you should email the CL CM's once you are confirmed. I already have the ADR's I want. Should I still email them?

Also-if you are staying at RPC, is there something in particular I should request? I really want a balcony-do all CL rooms have a balcony? I'd love a king bed, but I can certainly live with 2 queens, so I don't think I want to waste my "request" on that. Can I request a park-view room? Or would that have been an upgrade? I've searched the boards, and read a ton, but I'm not finding these answers! Thank you so much!

I know you have been on the GF thread. But I would DEFINITELY post these questions there as well. The GF pros are awesome:worship: I would email the CL CMs right away just to say hi. And you can make your requests to them as well. Park view is a separate booking category. But you can always make the request. Why not? They are good about getting back the same day!

You are not actually e-mailing the Club Level Cast Members that will be in the Royal Palm lounge. What you are thinking of is the Grand Floridian IPO Cast Members who have nothing to do with the Club Level Cast Members because those are the ones who make your ADR's, handle special requests and etc before you arrive. So basically all the information you tell them is then passed to the Royal Palm Club Level Cast Members a few days before you arrive. Anyway if there are requests you might have or ADR's you want then you should e-mail the IPO.

Most have balconies and yes, you have to pay for the theme park view in RPC. I know we had a king bed room for 1 night in 2009, that I believe was a deluxe room, but it did not have a balcony. We moved the next day since there were 3 of us and I did not want DS sleeping on a rollaway for all 10 nights (it wasn't very comfortable).

Definitely check out the GF FAQ for more details about this.

No need to apologize, tobin04:goodvibes. Yep, I know how the internet can be - one person's joke is another's insult:upsidedow.

CRRF4L is right that you should initiate contact with the GF IPO. Even if you don't have any requests and even if you switch to SL, the IPO will be the same. Just include your confirmation number in your email. BTW, the IPO for the GF is the same office as for the CR. I don't know if Marijane is still with the GF/CR IPO, but she was a real gem.

Have a great vacation at the GF!
