Concierge/Club Level Information - Part II (Sept 2009)

I ended up making my own - googled search Sleepy disney character images - or something like that. I found a few good ones. Then I copied the image into a word document that was formatted for an envelope and wrote in Word Art - Thank you for the turn down service! Sweet dreams and Good Night! A little cheesy but it will work, I guess. I am not very creative - wish I could have come up with something better to write...but it's all good!
Hope this helps!
Debbie

So how much do you tip them?

I tip $1 per person for regular mousekeeping ($3) and I am planning to tip $1 per bed for turn down ($2). There will only be my DH, DS(8) and myself. I hope that's enough... :)
Debbie

That is what I do too. $1/person & $1/bed except for us it is $5 & $3. Sometimes I may tip turndown more if we have been to the pool and have a ton of towels or for any other times when we have a bit more cleaning to be done.

The CMs in the lounge will be more than happy to fill your ice bucket for you.

We just returned from BC CL a few days ago and just wanted to add that we purchased a small cooler in the BC Marketplace and the CM's in the CL lounge filled it with ice for us. We had some drinks and leftover desserts (from meals not the lounge) we wanted to take back on our drive home. I thought that was great!!

How do you know "when" to tip the turndown service people? When I leave in the morning for the day, I leave the envelope for mousekeeping. Sometimes we don't return again until late, after dinner maybe. Or we may pop back in the middle of the afternoon. Should I leave both envelopes in the morning, one for daily mousekeeping and one for daily turndown mousekeeping and label them? What time does turndown usually come around? I think I'd feel awkward if someone was doing that while I was in my room. What does turndown usually consist of? Do they just turndown the comforter on my bed? They don't need to do that, I can do that myself when I go to bed. ;) Is there something else they do?
Thank you so much!

They take away any used towels, turn down the comforters, empty the trash and the best part - THEY LEAVE CHOCOLATES on your pillows! Sometimes if they came while we were still getting ready I just exchanged used towels for new towels, got the chocolates for the kids and gave them the tip envelope. If they hadn't come before we left for dinner I just left the tip envelope on the bed pillow.

Many days we are in the parks from sun up to sun down. We usually leave the mousekeeping tip when we leave in the morning. If we don't return until after the park closes should we leave the turndown tip envelop as well and hope mousekeeping does not take it as well?

I really like turndown service. They leave clean towels, empty trash and leave a treat on your bed-at BWI it is salt water taffy. BWI & AKL (probably others too but not Poly) leave a card-at AKL it was an African proverb-at BWI it was a drawing of a moon with a "moon" poem. Here's a photo from BWI turndown service:

I do not leave a tip for turndown in the morning. If we dont' come back before turndown there would be no trash or dirty towels. We often are at the parks at rope drop, come back for a swim or just rest & shower. When we leave to go to dinner I leave the turndown tip. It is nice to come back to a clean room again with fresh towels and a little light on welcoming you back.

Are there "to go" cups and lids available on the CL level- like to take cold drinks to the pool, or coffee to go in the morning?

Thanks!

Thank you Robyn! :thumbsup2

Wow, it sounds like they know when you come back to change for dinner and then do the turndown after you leave again. Is that right? Is that the impression you get too?
You are right though, if we leave in the morning and don't come back all day, then there is no trash or dirty towels to take, so we really wouldn't need anything done.

I don't think they know when we go to dinner. I think we just usually time it right. At the BWI I think they did turndown around 6pm and we were usually out of the room again by then.

I don't recall when they did it at the Poly. At AKL I found they often came very late (sometimes around 9pm) but others have reported AKL coming earlier.

Oh, that makes sense then.
I hope they don't come that late at BC.

Thanks so much!

I just posted my brief, okay--not so brief ;) , impressions after our stay last week in Hawaii at the Polynesian. I gave information about changes in the concierge level menu items, etc.

I know there are a few folks on here interested in club/concierge level happenings at the Polynesian. The thread is on this page Aloha.

BTW, turndown at the Polynesian this year--third floor was anywhere between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. There was only one person performing turndown on third.

Tess-thanks for your review! I wonder why the Poly CL has such a lousy breakfast selection. Loved your photos! I'm glad I made the switch to BWI CL this summer. I don't love all the Greek offerings at night but they do have a very nice variety of breakfast offerings and very friendly CMs in the lounge. When I was there in May the lounge was empty. Will be itneresting to see what it is like in July.
