Concierge/Club Level Information - Part II (Sept 2009)

Eons ago, when our kids were little, GF had kid sized robes. That is no longer the case. We had them one year and never again at any of the resorts.

:sad2:Oh, don't even get me started on "Amenities we loved that have disappeared from WDW Resorts (and dining, for that matter)...

I posted this on the YC/BC thread, but as of now it has yet be answered. Hopefully someone here can help me :flower3:

DS really wants to stay at YC or BC for his birthday in June since he is dying to try the SAB slide. I am not sure which would be a better fit for us. We would book the GV CL room. We like the decor in both rooms (but prefer the BC lobby to the YC) I know that the lounge offerings are the same, but what about the size? Which is bigger and/or seems less crowded (especially in the AM)

For those of you who have stayed at both, which do you prefer and why?

Thanks!
I'll try and help a little, but I could just end up being a bad influence:rolleyes1

We were booked YC Regatta for 8 nights (after 3 nights at AKL). We stayed one night and then transferred to the CR on Saturday! We missed the CR too much and DD asked if we could transfer. I'm sure the YC thought we were nuts, but we didn't care. Since DH is deployed, DD and I thought we'd try-out an Epcot resort, even though we always stay at a MK resort, and usually the CR. Well, it just wasn't for us. Maybe since the CR is DH's favorite and he's not with us, it made me miss the CR more:confused3

I thought DD would love SAB, but instead she found the long lines for the slide tedious and she said it wasn't a very exciting slide as its enclosed and pretty much just goes straight down. Maybe because she's almost 12 she was looking for a little more excitement?

I did not like the Shipshape Health Club. It was very hot in the cardio area and there isn't one single fan. It's also very crowded. I asked about the lack of fans and high temp. and was told that guests have complained, but her bosses just turned-UP the AC temp. recently and won't make it cooler and they have fans in storage, but won't put them out:confused3

I have no complaints about the Regatta Club lounge or its staff. In fact, overall I feel it was much better run than the Atrium Club, but I can't compare it to the BC, as I've never stayed there. (I chose the YC over the BC because it's a "calmer atmosphere").

I think you've stayed on the Atrium Club level so I won't bore you with the details. But in contrast to the AC, I will say that the RC has a dedicated lounge staff, as opposed to taking concierge desk employees away from the desk to perform lounge duties. The RC kept the lounge very clean and bussed tables continuously and re-stocked regularly. They were also very friendly and cordial.

The YC's location, room-view and room-style just wasn't for us. We're thrilled to be back at the CR, though I probably wouldn't opt for CL here (I asked for a non-CL room, but the mgr. upgraded us to AC). It must be the best CL view on-property, but the offerings and staff demeanor aren't quite what I expected and most of the elevators won't go to the 12th floor with your KTTW card:headache:

Good luck!

WDWKOOK- you, a bad influence??? Never! :rotfl:

Thanks for the honest opinion. Missing the monorail area is my biggest concern as well.

We have not stayed AC at the CR (and if we do go back in June instead of YC or BC CL it would be in a MK Tower room). AC is not in my budget for that trip (I would probably splurge for RPC before splurging for AC, but that's just me ;))

As for the pool, I am not sure what DS would actually think of that slide anyway. If there is a long line he would probably use that as an excuse rather than admitting that he is intimidated by it.

And who knows, maybe he will decide he liked the BWI pool so much that we will just book there

I am just trying to research various other resorts in the meantime while I secretly hope for a good bounceback offer in November that includes 2011 dates :wizard:

The more I think about it you might be on the 14th floor, because on my families confirmation it says Standard Room - Atrium Club, which you said was not written on your confirmation.

:) I hear they actually assign rooms about three days out. Perhaps then i will know for sure :cool1:

Anyone know if there will be only two robes, or four, in the CL rooms at the Poly? Do we just call Mousekeeping if we need 2 more?

Also, how much does it cost to rent a DVD? Or are they just provided for guests?

Thank you all! 3 more sleeps!
:woohoo:

You can also check out games from the front desk, twister, monoploy,a ball game where you throw it and it beeps, alot of games to choose from, also I needed more hangers and they brought me some (10) if you need two more robes they'll bring it to you.... We also checked out two movies while there..:wizard:

Yikes! Only 11 more days and then we're at WDW again!

I still have to order DS17's birthday cake

Pack

Let Owners Locker know where I need my bin delivered

Pack a box of stuff to put in the bin

And to make matters worse my laptop crashed a few days ago so I had to email IPO at BWI for my itinerary so I could try to recreate our trip. :faint:

At least I know that once I get to BWI CL and then on to GF's CL I will be able to relax! :goodvibes

How is everyone else on here doing? :)

We just got back on Wed from a 3 night/4 day stay at YC. We were booked for a standard room but I had gotten an email 2 days prior about our "new reservation" but just figured it was about our upcoming reservation and didn't bother reading it!

When we walked up to YC, we were greated and asked a last name (as if they knew it was us?) and said we had been comp. upgraded to CL!!!! I guess becasue of our party size and length of stay we were able to be upgraded which we've never had before!
I can post my pics on here later!

ANYWAYS..now that we have stayed CL, we want to try it again for in Dec. We are deciding between WL or YC. I didn't notice at YC but does anyone know if the room with 2 queens had a daybed/and or/fold out chair?? There will be 4 adults and my brother LOVED the pull-out chair that we had in our King room.

At WL, do you have to request the room with the bunk beds and view that you want? I read on the 1st page that CL guests can have any of the 3 views, standard, woods, or courtyard.

Any help that we could get would be great!!

My PC decided to do that to me several years ago. . .what a fiasco! I had it repaired, but the day before vacation (when I should have been enjoying the excitement), I was frantically trying to reinstall programs, find my documents, etc.--not fun!

I'm sure you'll get it all worked out! Enjoy your vacation.

At YC (like BC), some rooms have a daybed and others do not. You should probably receive a room with a daybed since you are a party of 5, but I would be certain that it is a request.

At WL, I believe you pay for the view/bedding you desire, e.g., CL w/bunk beds and courtyard view. With all the new view and pricing categories, it would probably be best to check out the various CL room types/costs on the Disney resorts page.

So, I guess you enjoyed your CL stay at YC?

Hi Everyone!

We haven't been to WDW in almost four (4) years. Naturally we are very excited. I have a couple of questions, I looked through several threads but did not find the answer.

1. We are staying Club level at AKL (Jambo house) for the second part of our trip. I understand the food offerings at all resorts has been made "Lite"???
What does that equate to for AKL? Could someone share their recent visit and what items were being offered at each time? I would really appreciate it.

2. We are staying at the GF in a standard room. Does anyone have a suggestion as what area or building we should request? I am sorry if I shouldn't be asking a non-concierge quesion here. :goodvibes

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi Angel!

I can help with AKL.

Breakfast is as wonderful as ever: hot oatmeal & quinoa; fresh fruits, pastries & bagels.

I have some questions, we're staying in poly cl in December.

1) any sugar free desserts? We have a type II diabetic

2) are there cordials in the poly cl at night?

thanks in advance.

Rachel, Thank you so much sweetie! Your photos are wonderful. Can you add them at the beginning of your thread where all the AKL info is? That would be wonderful. :goodvibes

The major difference I see is 2-3 less hot dishes from Boma in the evening and no.......no......:sad2: Zebra Domes. :scared1: Actually they didn't have them on our last visit in 2006, however when I mentioned it they were on the next nights dessert section. :thumbsup2 There was a very nice CM who arranged it that night. ;)

Do they still have dry cereal for those who don't eat oatmeal? I am happy to see they still offer different wines and all the yummy after dinner drinks. Thank you again.

Angel,

I'll have to re-size the pictures before I can add them to the beginning of this thread. Photobucket and I have been having some "issues" lately!

Yes, they have the dry cereal at breakfast! :thumbsup2

My favorite "adult" beverage in the Lounge is the Tusker beer. DH discovered he really liked Yuengling beer on our most recent trip!! Now I see their delivery trucks everywhere; no Tusker delivery trucks though!! :sad1:

:rotfl:

Here's a picture of the cooler (in the morning it is stocked with yogurts and milk (including chocolate milk). Here's what it looks like later in the day! ;)

Not sure about the sugar free desserts, but they do have beer and cordials in the lounge at night.

Does anyone know if there is Lactaid available at the market or through the club, or for that matter anywhere on WDW?

thanks in advance.

Though our first CL stay is this fall, I think I've read in my research that all you need to do is inform the staff that you have a special dietary request.

Have a wonderful stay
