I have just booked 7 days at PP. First we had a standard room, but then we got a great deal to upgrade. I have never done this before. What can I expect room wise? Will the room be the same? Will it be a bit bigger? How about location will it be a view or same view?

I am nervous at spending the extra cash, but if we could save on breakfast and drinks and snacks that'd be worth it for a family of 5.

What is the wine and cheese like? Is it just wine and cheese or could it be a light dinner? I'd love to hear from everyone who has done this and would love to hear good and bad thanks!!

The rooms are the exact same size as normal rooms except they are on the third floor and two upper floors. You will get Mickey rice krispy treats on the first night and chocolates and turndown on the other nights. You can make a dinner out of it in the evening. They have a hot appetizer as well as cheese, vegetables, sweets, and PBandJ Uncrustables.

If you don't mind me asking, what was the upgrade deal? I thought it was normally about $100 more.

It jumped up about $550 for 7 nights. Went from $1003 to $1560. We are military and i also got a email with PIN. The odd thing is even though the pin states that it ends 5/29 my dates are June 1-8. The woman on the phone spent a 15 minutes searching when i told her I had to use my tickets by June 12, (armed forces deal) and couldn't got until my kids got out of school May 28. So I'm glad I was patient when she told me the total..

I think it worked out to $78 extra a night.

The room type will depend on the room you've reserved. Although there may be the occasional upgrade. We reserved a basic city view room and got upgraded to a parkview room. Just like boiseflyfisher wrote, you'll get a plate of mickey rice crispy treat on the first with turn down service and then chocolate mickey coins each night there after.

We spent a lot less on food when we did concierge. We did take advantage of their breakfast, light lunch, and their wine and cheese hour. Breakfast had fruit, cereals, and pastries. Lunch had uncrustables, fruit, chips, cookies. Wine and cheese had various wines, cheese, crackers, one hot appetizer, salad(i think) and various desserts.

From what i remember, lounge hours were shorter than DLH & GCH's concierge lounges. I hope that's changed. You can bring 2 drinks out of the lounge per person. We requested a fridge in our room and would freeze some so that they were still cold in the parks after a few hours. It was a bit heavy in the backpack, but worth it rather than buying water in the parks. We did save a lot on water.

Concierge also has access to get you dinner reservations. We called the dining # for dinner at blue bayou and was told it was sold out. When we asked concierge to see if they have any availibility, they managed to get us a reservation.

Have a great time!!

A couple of of the DIS'ers recently posted a lot great photos of what was available in the concierge lounge at PPH, just last month, I think. One of them was Pycees312. She posted somewhere in the dining thread. There was another DIS'er, too, who posted some great pictures, and I can't recall who it was. (Sorry!) But look for Pycees312's photos in the Dining thread from December and you will be able to see what good stuff they had for the PPH concierge guests!

Here is the link. Her photos begin on page 72 of the dining thread, and continue onto the next page: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1253888&page=72

this site is not userfriendly though but if you click on photos, click albums and select paradise pier concierge you'll bypass all my other Disney stuff lol.
same for video select video and then paradiser pier concierge. Hope this helps!

I was hoping you would catch this thread eventually because I knew you had first-hand knowledge of what was recently available to the PPH concierge guests, and your pictures were the only ones I could remember off-hand (why can't I think of the other DIS-er who posted photos?)!!! So maybe when I mentioned your name, you felt the vibes and found the thread!!:goodvibes

How does GCH Concierge compare? I looked at your pics but also wanted to get your thoughts on service. We're staying GCH Concierge Garden View in May. Do they still have storytelling at night? I have a 5 and 2yr, thought that would be fun for them. I'm so excited!!!

Well, I didn't have the concierge service but I have stayed at PPH 4 times since 2000 (maybe 5 times; I can't recall!), two of which are detailed in my Trip Report (the link is in my signature below). The October 2008 stay at PPH was NOT good. The December 2008 stay at PPH was good. They are both detailed in my TR. The Oct. part of the TR has more of a description of what was wrong with the PPH room and the aftermath (like when I contacted Guest Communications when I got home) and the Dec. trip has pictures of the PPH room.
