Ok, so DD and I are watching TV late last night and low and behold there is a "Starbucks" commercial featuring "Survivor" who will be playing during our stay at WDW.

My question to you is this ~ How do we end up getting seats to see the concert without waiting Hours in line? I read that AP holders can get "Preferred Seating" by going somewhere?

Can anyone clarify this procedure or give any suggestions without booking "Eat to the Beat" since it was suggested that a 12 year old would not enjoy this event, or would she?

Thanks for all and any information!

Last year when we went we saw the Spinners. It was an outdoor concert. It wasnt that crowded. We sat anywhere that we wanted.I dont know if thats usual for the Eat to the Beat concerts. We did go to the night concert. I dont know if its more crowded during the day.

If the same procedures are in place as in May, you got to Guest Relations, just past Spaceship Earth, and request which showing you want and they give you an arm band that entitles you to a seat in the covered front section. Is much better than sitting in the sun behind a tree. LOL

Hope to see you there!

Now that DD realizes who "Survivor" is, I gotta go now!LOL

See you there!

Don't forget to wear Lime Green!

There isn't any waiting hours in line. You just show up and sit down. If you want to make sure you get an actual seat, I would get there about 30 minutes early. For lesser known acts you can probably get there 10-15 minutes before. When I saw the Spinners last year I believe there were still seats available during the show.

I've never done the AP thing so I can't respond to that.

Just to clarify, Eat to the Beat is the name of the concert series. It is not something you book. I think you're referring to the Party for the Senses which is a dining experience that includes special seating at the 5:45 concert. If your 12 year old is an adventurous eater she may enjoy it, but it won't be worth the price you pay $85 pp) since she can't drink.

Karen, I have been to many of the concerts and have done it both ways, getting there early and sitting to get good seats (great way to meet great people) and the last trip they had the special seating for AP holders. If you get there later you will probably be able to get a seat somewhere but a lot of the seats are bad because they are behind trees and such and if it is sunny being under the covered part up front is much better. I also see people standing back of the area in front of the American Adventure who are just listening to the music.

As you go around Spaceship Earth on the left you will see Guest Relations. Go in early and request a bracelet for which showing you want to see. They told me that I could only have one bracelet but have heard and seen from others that they got them for more showings.

We are coming in for the Beach Boys and staying for Three Dog Night. Will be our longest trip, so far. See you there!

Thanks for the AP info!!! I didn't get a Micket Monitor and I would have had no idea about the wristbands. Now I just have to figure out who Starship is

See you there :wave2:

Is it mentioned in the MIckey monitor? Where?

The MM had the info for the Flower Power conerts in the Spring. The latest MM doesn't mention wristbands as far as I saw:confused:

Maybe they are not doing the wristbands anymore? I hope not as I liked it. You still had to be there early to get the best seats though. They were also doing the late entry nites while we were there. It was good for us as it gave us something to do while we were waiting for the hordes to leave the parks.

Do you remember Jefferson Starship..............Mickey Thomas was with them then and is with them now, although Grace Slick is retired. They play "We Built This City"......Wild Again...........Miracles

Thanks Chyam now I remember who they are. Wow, I'm getting old!

I guess the AP info wasn't in the MM. Sorry to confuse anyone

Starship is one of the most disappointing elements of rock and roll history. Essentially the same group of people that brought us such classics at White Rabbit, Need Somebody to Love and even Miracles; lost their minds in the 1980's and started churning out garbage like We Built This City and Nothing's Gonna Stop us Now. But, if they were to perform their songs from the late 60's and early 70's, I'd love to see them.

Truth is that the groups who appear at DW are not at the top of their form or are out of fashion but then I am a golden oldie myself and enjoy relieving the youth I probably never had. LOL Have to admit that I enjoy the groups who sing their old stuff more than the ones who insist on singing their newer stuff.

To each his own, I happen to enjoy them........compared to some of the crap that is out there today

Just so ya know Linda, not ALL of the groups appearing are not at the top of form or out of fashion, in fact, country singer Blake Shelton who will be playing Oct 31-Nov 4 is a recent country singer, with some hits out on the radio, he's a great singer, (and cute to boot, lol). Not trying to bash you or anything, but I just wanted to throw that in.

The people who were in the original Jefferson Airplane were:

Marty Balin (vocals) left in 1971
Paul Kantner (guitar and vocals) left in 1984
Jorma Kaukonen (guitar) left in 1974
Jack Casady (Bass) left in 1974
Skip Spence (drums) left in 1966
Grace Slick (vocals) left in 1988

They share almost nothing in common with Starship featuring Mickey Thomas, except the history of the group. Thomas joined in 1979 (replacing Marty Balin), so he did work with both Slick and Kantner for a while.

The group changed their name from Jefferson Airplane to Jefferson Starship in 1974. It became Starship in 1985, and Thomas was the driving force ever since he joined the group.

I saw the Airplane in 1966 and they rocked! I saw Mickey Thomas and Starship last year at Flower Power and he can still sail through the later classics. One of the best acts to appear at WDW. I've heard that Balin and Kantner have reunited as Starship but I haven't heard them yet.

To compare the original Jefferson Airplane to todays Starship featuring Mickey Thomas, is like comparing apples to pineapples! They kinda have similar names, but not the same flavor!
