Concerned Over Pickup Time

I am one of those people who needs to be at the airport WAY in advance of my flight time. In June, we were at the airport 4 hours in advance of our flight. I know that probably sounds odd to some people, but I need this comfort factor to assure myself that we will be through security and ready for our flight in plenty of time.

We are going to WDW in October for a short trip. In the past, I have always rented a car because we were going to be there for awhile. I am considering a car service for this trip, but I am concerned on when they will pick us up for our return to the airport. From reading on this board, it looks like they decide when to pick you up based on you flight time. In most cases, it seems they pick people up two hours prior to their flight. If this were the case, I would be a nervous wreck.

Is it possible to just tell them the time you want them to pick you up regardless of the flight time?

Also, where do they pick you up at your resort? Do you need to be at the main lobby?

Thanks.

Feralpeg>> There shouldn't be a problem with you saying what time you want to be picked up. You are the customer and are paying for a pick up and a drop off. Most people try to squeeze as much time as possible at their resort, thus the companies tell you their pick up is at "this time" in order to get you there on time with a lot of extra time worked in for traffic and security measures. We were picked up at the main lobby of the Swan, but for us that was where our luggage was due to the fact that bell services had it. This worked out very well. I am sure you can change pick up spots to one that would convenient for you. You are the paying customer. Call or email the companies you are considering if you have any questions. I am sure they can put your worries to rest!

Have a lovely vacation!

Our Tiffany Towncar driver asked us what time we wanted to be picked up. Since our flight was at 8:00 a.m., 6:00 a.m. was fine for us. I think it should be your choice and I don't think you'll have a problem with it.

I definitely understand about wanting to have plenty of time to spare! I'm thinking by "car service" you mean one of the town car/limo companies, and if so I'm sure that if you make arrangements far enough in advance they will pick you up as early as you want. We used Cartier for our 9:30a.m. Sunday flight and they suggested picking us up at our resort (All Stars) at 7a.m. We agreed, and once we got to MCO we had gone through check in and security (both fairly crowded) and were waiting at our Southwest gate at about 8:10a.m. Plenty of time for breakfast and coffee, but maybe not as much of an extra cushion as you'd like--so definitely make arrangements in advance with your car service. Have a great trip!

We use Happy Limo and have always been able to specify our pick-up time. I too am a paranoid person who likes to get to MCO with plenty of time to spare, and that has never been a problem. If you are the customer, a good company will respect your wishes. I can understand a set time with Mears, since they are a shuttle service with a regular schedule, but when you are paying for a towncar or limo, the arrangements are up to you. Of course, I can see where they might get worried if you wanted to leave too LITTLE time, but too much shouldn't be a problem.
