My other computer died...the one I borrowed from a friend no less. It is a older emachine and I have the recovery disks. For some reason though it isn't reading them. I really don't know what I am doing truthfully. I can although get t a point where I have an option to 1)restore ME or 2) go to dos-prompt (but I don't know what prompts to key in there.

When I hit 1) it says restoring millineum Caution: everything on your hard drive will be erased...back up first if neede and hit restart (well...duh...I can't back up anything since I can't boot up...and there isn't really anything worth saving on it)

My question is....if I continue with #1 option.....will my router and cable modem still work properly since I am wireless on my notebook from there???

I don't want to do it if I am going to screw up my wireless connection right now.......

Thanks
Sorry so confusing
Lisa

Just a bump to see if anyone knows?? My main concern is keeping my wireless up and running...not necessarily saving the emachine

If you do a restore you will have to reinstall everything, router included. The machine will be back to like it was when it was brand new.
