computer/internet question

Hi guys--
Well , my computer is driving me crazy!
I have wireless (linksys) internet connection and lately it has been kicking me off like crazy--now im only signed off for 30 seconds or so and then it signs me back on..
this happened before, and i know i did something to stop it...but then my computer went crazy and the computer guy had to wipe everything out and redo it..so i dont know if this was affected..
does anyone ahve any ideas?

Are you able to plug in directly, bypassing the router, to see how that is??

Funny you should post this because for the last 2 days I've been doing live chat with linksys for the same thing. It bumps me off and the only way to re-establish connection is to unplug the power supply.
I haven't really gotten any solutions yet.
I'll let you know how I make out.

i dont have to unplug anything...
ill just be sitting her eand it signs me off...waits a few seconds, then signs me back on...its not a big deal, just annoying when it happens

Can you plug your DSL or cable right into the PC? If so, same problem??

Jen when you say it signs you off and then back on again do you mean it shuts down Windows and then restarts it? If so that sounds like one of the many virus variations that are going around. If that is what it is doing then I would do a virus scan first and foremost.

virus scan comes up clear---windows isnt actually shutting down....but i have comcast cable, and if im searching a webpage, it will say page not available...then my instant message programs sign off and then it will just go back to "normal"...
i actually just got my computer back a couple of weeks ago from the shop, it had some kind of virus on it,,,,this problem happened before but the guy did something to fix it...when he had to clear everything off my computer, it seems everything went back to how it used to be..
of course, hes on vacation so i cant even call the shop!
