This morning my nearly 10 year old Dell laptop finally broke. I could repair it, but I don't want to put any more money into it. The case is cracked in four places, battery is shot and a few other issues. It has been a great computer and has traveled everywhere with me. I hate to see it go but I'm afraid its time is up. My requirements, must be a Dell, 15.6" monitor with a lot of memory. Below are two I found on Amazon (since this is an unplanned purchase it has to go on my store card). The first one is factory refurbished which is not a problem and it has better screen resolution with a different graphics card. It will be used with Photoshop Elements for quick PP. I have an additional larger monitor that will be used for anything more than a quick PP.

Which is the better computer and/or best deal? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Spec wise, I like the resolution, 32GB SSD, and slightly higher clock speed i7 of the first one. I think its graphics card is lower but usually CPU means more in the future.

I didn't pay attention to weight/size though.

I concur... now what kind of monitor are you using? Lol, I've been trying to decide on one for myself!

Gianna'sPapa I agree with hakepb and Daisy14'sDH.
I would go with the Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition - i7-3632QM if I was choosing between the two.

I'm not at home right now to give you the model number but it is a 20" LG. We have three LG's in the family and have had good luck with them. And thanks for the recommendations everyone.

i would go with the Inspiron 15R with the solid state hard drive comparing the spec's the Inspiron 15R is in all around better computer if you are going by comparing them side be side

Again, I want to thank everyone for their recommendations. It was unanimous that the first was the better option. I ordered it and according to Amazon and the company, it already has shipped. I do have one question because I have never owned a computer with a solid state drive. What do they actually mean when it is a 1TB + 32gb Solid State Drive?

The laptop will have a "regular" 1TB hard drive, and the 32GB SSD handles the cache for the hard drive operations. This should, in theory, improve the speed of your laptop. You can google "Smart Response Technology" for more technical info.

Note - I don't have one of these drives, but know they are quite popular on gaming laptops.

Thank you very much! While I'm not a gamer, I'm hoping this computer will speed up some PP. Again, thanks.

SSD is the only way to go. Once you go SSD its hard to go back.
