The flat screen monitor on my desk top just died. It's all plugged in and is getting electricity but it is just black. Has anybody had any experience with this? Is it fixable or just dead? Personally I think it is a conspiracy built into the computers to have something major go wrong so you have to buy a new one! :rotfl:

Boy it could be anything - video card may be the culprit. Power down your cpu and check to see if all components are in tight, such as graphics card. Mine always gets loose and I lose signal.

Well, I replaced the monitor with an old one that works fine so I dont think its that,

How old is it? The older it is, the more likely it will not last very long.

(Uh... that's not as obvious a statement as it might seem on first read: Older flat screen displays were simply not as reliable as the ones being produced today. My first one lasted three years. The one I have now probably will last twice that long. If I bought one today, I bet it could last four times as long as that first one.)
