Computer building geeks, I need your help

The CAD version he uses at school has Inventor, which I'm not familiar with - Our version at the shop is 3-D intensive, but I think that's from the add-on program (blanking the name) that we have on it to manipulate the drawings to see the project from different angles. Max would love it - but I'm sure he doesn't need it yet.
I don't use CAD myself at all- just the end product, so Max will have to teach me.
He has a seperate program on this 'puter which does home design & landscaping stuff....
With the help I got here & the tech dept. at Max's school - I have gotten the system down to a managable cost....If Max wants the extra bells & whistles that Gary has at work, he can always work on it there.
You all have been so helpful - I appreciate it - It's been a little intimidating trying to figure out what to get.

Like was said. Geforce cards are designed for 3D Graphics. If you want to save a little cash on it look at the ATI Radeon 7100. This is equally as good and currently the only one that hangs with the Geforce.

For CAD you only need a 2D Card which Matrox is the best 2D manufacturer out there.

Hey jipsy if you haven't bought the parts yet, I just found a system that I would buy for myself (if I had the money.........and it didn't take away from Disney trips.............And Elaine had already gotten her laptop)

Total Price for this one is $1,090 and this includes shipping.
All parts have been proven and are known to be very reliable.

CHAINTECH 7VJL Motherboard
AMD ATHLON XP 2400+
CORSAIR MEMORY 256MB PC2100 (2 for a total of 512MB)
Abit Siluro Geforce4 128MB DDR Ti4600 Video Card
Hercules GameTheater XP Sound Card
Western Digital 80GB 7200RPM EIDE HARD DRIVE
Plextor PX-W4012TA/SW 40x12x40 CD-RW
Enlight EN-72500AZ Case w/ 300Watt Power Supply

Not only that but if you are picky about how your computer looks, Everything on the inside actually matches and is a nice color scheme (Yellow strips on black boards and chrome highlights).... OK I think it looks really good.

Let me know if you are interested (or if anyone else is interested) and I will hook you up.

I have to put off the computer as I had to buy a new washing machine

coqui when I get ready, I'll get with you. Thanks for all your help, everyone :D
