Compliments Mickey Burgers!

Hey all;

We just bought Compliments brand Mickey Mouse shaped burgers!! We hadn't seen them before and there they were. They were actually pretty tasty as well. They were at Sobeys here in Halifax, but be on the lookout wherever you buy Compliments brand!

There's a whole line of Compliments Disney stuff: Juice tetra-paks, hand soap, mini-pancakes, Mickey hamburgers! Not all the pics are posted yet - But I think we're going to have Mickey Burgers for supper tonight!

We bought the Mickey waffle maker, but it took so long for a family of 5.... that's why we now have 2 Mickey Waffle makers.... we are TOO obsessed!

We need a review on the Mickey Burgers. How do they taste? Do they fit in regular size hamburger buns? Do they take longer to cook? Can you barbecue them without them fallling apart? Inquiring minds need to know!

First - I found them at a Sobey's in Oakville . . .

I BBQ'd them last night (in the rain!) - they are mini sized burgers, but because of the Mickey shape - they fit well on a regular sized hamburger bun. They would be too small on the oversized buns.

They taste good, there are some spices in them, my DD says they taste like meatballs!

I cooked them from frozen, because I didn't want them to fall apart, but they didn't. They're about the same thickness as a regular frozen hamburger.

The only problem I had was that they were difficult to pry apart from frozen.

Up until recently, when I moved here to Florida (eek!) I lived in BC and worked in the bakery department of a large grocery store. I'm glad to hear Compliments is getting better reviews these days, because for two years I constantly got complaints that the Compliments burgers were too small for the buns we made (not our fault, but hey). I remember them as tasting well enough, but with a bit of a tendency to shrink up some when cooking.

The Mickey thing is really cute though. Our company's brand was President's Choice, which generally had consistently good food -- too bad they didn't have something like that!

We stopped into the Sobey's Kanata (West Ottawa, Ontario) location this afternoon, since I had seen the ad for the Mickey Burgers and Taters in Today's Parents. They are expecting 75-100 "Disney" food products to arrive this week - unfortunately their shipment was delayed.

I'm very curious to see if the Disney line is going into Price Chopper too... If anyone should see them in a Price Chopper store, I'd love to know!!
