I received an email today from DVC and it stated..."And for a limited time you'll receive a complimentary Disney vacation when you purchase a real estate interest in Disney's Saragota Springs Resort."

If I purchase a real estate interest in Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort, why would I need a complimentary Disney vacation?

I got that too, I'm thinking maybe you get AP's or extra points for the first year? If anyone knows the details please post I'm sure there are lots of us that are curious about this.

I got the same email.

I think you might not be able to use your points immediately. Any kind of freebie from WDW is a good thing IMO. :p

Well, being in DVC is not like 'free'. To go to WDW, you have to use your points. This would be maybe a pointless trip, trying to drum up buiness. :) (No pun :))

I just got a phone call & she left me a message saying they're offering 2 incentives right now, one of them being a complimentary vacation & to call for details. Hmmm....

We signed on 2 weeks ago for SSR, we have a June use year starting June 2005, no dues until June 05, pro-rated for 1/2 year. Phase 1 has sold out & they are now selling Phase 2. Here are the options:

1) $85 per point, no points until June 05 (or whatever 05 month chosen), no pmt., no dues until then

2) $95 per point, & they will give "developers points" to match for 2004, no dues (or actual points) until June 05 (and dues pro-rated). Dev. points can be used now thru Sept. 30, 2005 any WDW resort EXCEPT SSR.

We bought 180 pts., chose option 2, we will use our 180 dev. points for June @ Hilton Head & Sept. @ WDW, we will then bank our 2005 pts into 2006 & either have a big vacation or continue to use banked points 1st & then a few current year points as needed. We figured by doing this, we can have 210-220 points per year for the next 8-10 years - Does that make sense? I tend to confuse myself, so I'm sure I confuse others:confused: :)

I think they are offering this because the building you will be buying into will not be complete until next year. They can't sell points until the building is ready for occupancy. So they are locking you in now with this deal, kind of a "presale". The free vacation is from points DVD owns at other resorts, that's why you can't stay at SSR. You probably have to sign something saying you will pay them back for the developer points if you use them and then don't close on your points next year.

ahhhh, now it's becoming clearer.....

KristiKelly, although your explanation of DVC actually does make sense, that confusing stuff is precisely why (well one reason-other is that DH would never go along! LOL) I couldn't sign up for it. I could never keep track of all that point stuff, and banking points, and developer points,
and oohhhhhmyyyyheaaaddddisssspppiinnnniinnngggiiinnneeedddttooollllaayyydooowwnnnn...!!! :faint:

I definitely admire anyone who can keep all of that straight in their mind. Me, I'm more of the "call every day for AP or Code rates until I get the deal I want" kinda girl..::yes::

Congrats on your new DVC membership!

and KristiKelly is well on her way to becoming an EXPERT!!:):)

It's pretty simple...wanna a quick explanation?

Each night of the year is assigned a point "cost". Just like money. Value season is "cheaper"...Magic etc "costs" more.

Each type of accomodation is assigned a point value. A studio, being smaller than a 1 or 2 bedroom is lower than a 1 or two bedroom.

You buy points, and use 'em 'til you gots no more:)

Every year, DVC deposits -that same amount you bought- another batch of points that you can use up that year, or "bank them for next year. That doubles the points you now have in your account...and adds up to a fabulous vacation.
Borrowing is just the reverse...you've used 'em til ya gots no more that year, borrow a few - or all - from your next year's allottment.

Done.:)

HTH!!

That works fine for the first year or so, then the extra trip kinda sets in, then the 1 bedroom vs a studio, then you want that grand villa to bring the old folk and show them what a real vacation is. Yup, by year 3 you're buying more points.

At least that's the way we went. (only we bought in year 4 LOL)

Hmmmm, I'm looking at more points in year 2!
