I would love input on a convoluted transportation problem. I am having a family reunion, several families, and we're doing a land/sea trip (booked separately). I have reserved two vans to get 15 of us from the airport to WDW, WDW to Port Canaveral, and Port Canaveral to MCO. Now my MIL will be joining us for the cruise only portion of the trip, and she lives in Orlando. I'm trying to figure how to get her to the port and back. Would it be best to have her take a cab to WDW and ride with us to Port Canaveral, then ride with us to MCO and take a cab back to her house? (She lives near Sea World). Should I just hire a town car to take her to the port and back? Or should I just ask her to drive and leave her car there? My biggest worry is that she won't find where to park, how to register at the port, be on time, etc. Any suggestions?

I would be tempted to nicely explain your situation to a sympathetic looking desk clerk at your WDW hotel and see if he/she would give you a parking pass for the days you are cruising. That way MIL could drive to WDW to meet you and leave her car at the hotel while you were gone.

Better yet since she lives there could she have a friend drive her to your hotel and then she wouldn't have to mess with car retreival upon return. She could cab it home from the airport or get a friend to pick her up.

You might also see if your van driver would make an extra stop for a nominal fee and pick her up before/after getting you all and then drop her off on return. Then she wouldn't have to bother driving at all.

I agree that her trying to drive to the port alone and hook up with you all could be quite complicated for her

I'd have her take a cab to WDW and meet you all there. A cab from her area would cost less than a car service to the port and back, and give you peace of mind knowing where she was.

Then she can take a cab back home from the airport.

I also vote to have them meet you at WDW....taxi shouldn't be too expensive..

Thanks for your advice, I 'm thinking that although this may be a bit more complicated for her it may be less stressful overall. What is the likelyhood that the WDW hotel (BCV) would give her a parking pass for the 4-night cruise part? I'm thinking no since she won't even be staying there. Thanks again for your help!!!

You might ask, not sure if they will agree. I think it depends on how busy they are.

I don't know when you are going..but another thread, lower down mentions her 15 pass vans were changed into 12 pass vans. She mentions it's a new Florida law..no more 15 passenger vans. You might want to scroll down and read that message : (

Thanks for the info on 15 passenger vans. We actually booked two 10-person vans. I appreciate the heads up though!
