Complicated AP voucher and DDE question

I have an AP voucher. I know I can go ahead and buy the DDE card before our Sept trip with the Voucher (will order the DDE after Aug 10). Do I need to actviate my AP to use the DDE card in Sept? I already have unused tickets for the Sept trip, so I don't *need* the AP for ticket use. I was hoping I could wait and activate the AP voucher later for our next vacation, but we definitely want the DDE card for this trip. Thanks!

you can buy your DDE card with just the voucher. I called and ordered mine with just the voucher I bought at the disney store.

do you have to show an active AP to use the DDE card? Or just hand them the card?

I've never shown my AP when using the DDE card. And I also got my card last month with just the voucher.
