Completely Immersive Star Wars Experience

The droid thing sounds pretty cool, as long as we're not buying it from a Jawa. Those little suckers can't be trusted at all. The droid will probably keel over before you get to your room.

I do think that they should have stuff from the old ones as well. The thing I'm not sure about is "Star Tours". How can there be a Star Wars ride so far away from a Star Wars Land? Weird.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what they do with that. My favorite version of Star Wars is still this one:

Disney hasn't been setting the world on fire with AAs of late as well...they just spend a lot more on them. That's their thing...Comcast as of yet hasn't invested in those.

I love AAs...but nothing really new has been done with them In a while...I hear dak has one good new one...the last one they tried bombed.
The trolls that work in Gringotts Bank are pretty amazing so the ability is there. I did like the Jack Sparrows too whether they belong where they are or not.

The Olaf and Elsa are good...the last jack sparrow is really good.

But the idea the people working for Comcast can't build passable approximations of them is probably false...they have other priorities and go different routes...they are in "expand" mode.

Even at a hefty price...this thing would do two things that TDO is ordered to avoid at all costs:

1. Draw spending away from the parks (particularly the gift shops)
2. Require above minimum wage labor (aka skilled, professional, artistic) to pull it off.

I don't think #1 is an issue because the hotel will draw lots people who in the past wouldn't step foot in WDW. It will probably be different once Star Wars Land opens but I still think the potential is there. There's a huge number of SF fans out there who spend serious bank on their hobbies including collecting all things Star Wars. If you know nothing about the subculture you'd be shocked by how much they spend on cosplay outfits, attending cons, collecting related items, etc. I suspect lots of groups will book at such a resort. If they build such a hotel they really need to build an adjoining event space for weddings, small cons, cosplay group events, etc.

Star tours is probably gonna get axed. But I agree about the old stuff, when they announced the new land was gonna be based entirely off the new franchise I kinda rolled my eyes. Seriously? Do you fools in the upper management of Disney not get that Star Wars gets soooo much traction from the originally trilogy? Although I'm looking forward to the new land, don't get me wrong

I have to think elements of the older films will be peppered in. Basing it entirely off the new franchise gives them the liberty to do whatever they wish though, without having to defend their choices. We all know how particular a fanbase can be- especially with something as huge as Star Wars.

I'm hoping so, I also really liked their decision to base it on a new, unknown planet. It gives them a clean slate to not try and live up to the expectation of a tatooine or endor, but still deliver the story they're trying to tell

Very smart move. Here's hoping for delivery on promises & more smart moves longterm!

God...I hope so...

Star tours has needed to go for a longtime...simulators are bad enough...outdated/bad ones should be cleansed from the earth.

For now, that's fine...

...but i'm telling you as the main line core Star Wars fan/age that if they really want to sell it...they need a classic trilogy area and a kick butt attraction in it - the anti-star tours - if they could pull that off, it would be worth multiple billions in longterm business in the relatively short term. Never underestimate the pre-Internet children of the 60's 70's 80's desire to live out what we did in the backyard again.

Umm... they are building a Millennium Falcon ride. That's about as original trilogy as you can get.

Hypothetically they could pull a universal and put another section in MK or epcot (shudder at the last one)focused on the older stuff. Will it happen? Doubtful. But it's possible

Don't get too excited, they'll probably keep the simulators with a new theme

Right...cause a simulator, simulator 2.0, and doombuggy 2.0 is the right mix of rides for Star Wars...

...right...cause it's the "kids" that really want to go on these and but all the crap in one stop...

...right...the kids...

Really? Cause that's being flown by a Wookiee with two plastic hips and someone who's 97 lbs dripping wet now...

...what...do you suppose...in the iger/Kennedy/Abrams world...will they focus the story on?

Which one is doombuggy 2.0? I'm assuming you're referring to some of the new projects, but I haven't heard anything personally about what the first order ride is gonna be

I know why the Falcons had a ramp all these years. Handicap accessible

Trackless systems...like the maybe announced ratatouille ride...are the successor to omnimovers. They offer more...seemingly independent movement...more speed and stopping...the ability for the computer to randomize in the sensor grid...

...but they aren't "thrill" type rides. Modern, but less intensity.

Ah gotcha. I'm fine with trackless, and I also think not everything's gotta be a thrill ride. I'll judge on a case by case basis.
