Complete newbie wanting info

I am new to the boards and keep reading about pin codes etc. I am quite confused what this means and how to get them. We have booked a trip to WDW 2-14 October through the WDW website. I would love to get a room discount, but don't know what I need to do to get sent the pins.

Please can a kind person explain this to me.

There's no known way to get PINs, it's all guessing on our part.

Here are some different ways people are thought to get PINs:

1. Signing up for an account on disneyworld dot com
2. Ordering the vacation planning CD from that site
3. Planning and saving a vacation on the site
4. Ordering the custom maps from the site

I'm sure others will chime in with their thoughts, as I think there are more.

Some people never get one, some people get them once a year, some people get them all the time.

I get several a year. The last one I got was after planning and saving a vacation on the site. The email I got with the PIN # said, "XXXX family, we are glad you are planning a vacation in October. Here a deal..."

Some PINs come in the mail, I believe most come in an email from Disney Destinations.

Do they give pins to people outside the USA? We can't get the WDW planning DVD as we live in New Zealand, so thought the pins may be limited to those in the US.

However, I don't know about PINS outside the US. But I bet someone on this board does...
