Hey guys i've got a trip coming up soon and just like last trip i've been suplementing my disney fix with other podcasts other then the dis unplugged. I've been listening to the dis unplugged weekly since my last trip as well as ricky brigantes inside the magic. I believe these to be the top two podcasts out there (with the dis being a far superior number one. And i'm not just saying that cuz i'm posting on these boards).

Now i've been listening to podcasts and been reading disney books looking for alternatives. I've been surprised to see that the dis is never the number one mentioned podcast in books and online when talking about podcasts and that sometimes its not even mentioned at all. I was under the assumption that our love for the dis was pretty well universal. Is it simply that the competition does not want to plug its competition? Just curious.

While i'm on the subject what other podcasts do you guys listen to? Like i mentioned i like inside the magic (especially for skipper bens segments, i could do without all the audio). I love the Dis for its roundtable discussions and Petes patented opinions. I also love the reviews of restaurants even though I very often disagree with the conclusions, I believe the reviewers make very valid points. What other podcasts do you think i could look into to suplement these two?

There are only two other podcasts that I really listen to besides the Dis Unplugged. First, I also like the round table discussion, dinning reviews, and segments. that they have on the Dis Unplugged. The other two that I listen to are Beourguestpodcast and Netcot. I like Beourguestpodcast because they do trip reviews. They have people come on and they talk about their trips. The other one I like is the Netcot, because he talks about the attractions and gives some information on it. After the talking part he has some music from the parks.

Thanks Pilgrim. I'll check those two out. Although not for the audio. Thats one part of inside the magic i do not like. I end up fast forwarding half the show because i dont like to listen to all of the park audio that rikcy likes to include as part of the show. I know other people like it so i'm not going to rag on it. Its just not for me. Listening to other peoples trip tho might be a good way to psych me up for my trip!

I think the DIS is the best podcast but the other two I listen to are WDW Today and WDW Radio.

WDW Today is great, it is a round table show done via skype since the 4 normal members are in NY, NH, NC, and FL. There are a lot of inside jokes so check out their wiki. Actually, some of their inside jokes are inside jokes from a totally different show…good luck bro!

WDW Radio is done by one of the guys who put together Celebration Magazine. It is quite a long podcast which is ironic for such a short guy.

The DIS is my #1 podcast, it's the only one I make sure to download on the day it is released...I have to listen to it! It's like a drug, I swear!

I do listen to other podcasts, but I don't keep up to date w/ all of them, most of the time.

I like Mouseguest Weekly, All About the Mouse (although they have been running a little long lately), WDW Today (I love their bantering). I occasionally listen to MouseStation and WDW Radio. I think that's it though. All of these, I can live without...but not my DIS!

I have to admit I am a Disney Podcast Junkie. I listen to a ton of them! I also really like a lot of podcasts on the DPN (disney podcast Network). I can relate to a lot of the podcast on there since a quite a few of them travel with out kids. I love Jeff & Earl & and Micecast! I am not a traitor just an equal opportunity pod cast listener with a really boring job......

I also listen to NPR podcast too...

I started listening to podcasts back when Inside the Magic was still in single digits. Someone I met at the food and wine festival actually got me started on it, and I was hooked.

From there, Ricky's year end summary (long, but I enjoy it) with Paul Barrie from A Window to the Magic got me hooked on that show, and Paul's girlfriend Tairy has a gem of a podcast, usually very short, Disney Tidbits. (She only recently started that, but I enjoy it very much!)

I used to listen to Nathan Rose and Lou Mongello when they had their now defunct podcast, MouseTunes. Since then, Nathan teamed with various others, but now features Jim Hill pretty much exclusively, and I enjoy the show, Magical Definition. Lou went on to host of WDW Radio Show podcast, which wins the Best Travel Podcast award on some podcast awards website. (The DIS was nominated at the same time as Lou, about a year ago, I think?)

And MouseTunes also had a spin-off for one of their regular contributors, Jonathan "The Voice" Dichter. He joined Bryan Ripper at All About the Mouse podcast, and they have some of the best chemistry I've heard.

Since many of those shows can be marathon-long, there are a few (Disney Tidbits mentioned above is one of them) that are about 30 minutes or less. They are: WDWToday (I've known Newell for 13 years now, I better mention him or else!), NetCot, and Communicore Online, another spin-off I picked up from listening to plugs for his show on a couple of other podcasts.

Other than DIS Unplugged, the other shows that has somewhat of a roundtable format also have something else in common: All the women on these shows were pregnant at the same time. Coincidence? I think not. I'm of course referring to Cathy of Mouse Guest Weekly and Rebecca of Laughing Place podcasts.

And last but not least, I am a big fan of Trapped on Vacation with Earl and his Bleepin' Wife (bleepin' because of her potty mouth of course! Lots of editting for sure.) And Earl has his own spin-off of sorts, with Jeff from Houston on The Meandering Mouse. There are many reasons I love their shows. Earl earned my loyalty by playing lots of Adventurers Club audio from its final shows, and Jeff because he plays audio from Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea. (And he squeals like a little girl on thrill rides. I can't help but giggle at that.)

There are other podcasts I've listened to off and on, but these are the podcasts I really try to listen to along with DIS Unplugged.

And the only non-Disney podcast on my subscriber list? PotterCast.

For what it's worth, I don't think of the Disney podcasts as competition among each other. I think all of them bring something special to the table. And yes, I've heard the DIS mentioned on other shows. Matt Hochberg of WDWToday referred someone to check out the DIS forums for DVC renting because it's probably the most comprehensive place to find info about it. I've found there's a lot of cross-promotion among the podcast community, and I really like that.

I did listen to Disney Tidbits, but Terry's voice bothered me...I kind of felt like a child being spoken too. I know...

I'm strictly a DisUnplugged and WDW Radio Show kind of girl. But that is actually because I don't have enough time to listen to more.

I can't believe the Dis Unplugged isn't mentioned on more "best" lists. That is crazy. I've listened to a bunch of Disney podcasts, and this is the only one i've stuck with. I was hooked after the first episode I listened to in August of 06. I did listen to Inside The Magic for awhile, but there's just not enough time in the week sometimes and I haven't heard it in a long time. The definitive thing about the DIS Unplugged that sets it apart, I think, is the feeling that you're just kind of listening to your friends sit and talk about Disney. Inside the Magic feels a little bit more rehearsed and official to me. It's still a great podcast, but doesn't compare with the DIS for me. Nothing does.

I only listen to two other podcasts religiously and that's Scene Unseen (a movie podcast) and Smodcast (filmmakers Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier just sit around and talk about random topics, hilariously). I wish I had the time for more!

You should be safe. The inside jokes from the other show are more subtle. They probably go completely unnoticed by 99% of people. If you listed closely though on occasion you will hear:

Those are just the ones I can think of.

I just started listening to AllAboutTheMouse, but it's incredibly long, and I don't have that much time to listen to it. Same with WDW Radio Show...too long...too sweet...but if there's a guest I want to hear, or a subject he's covering that I'm interested in, I listen.

I have all the others on my podcast list, but only download them if I'm feeling desperate. I have too many other podcasts I listen to...mostly science and skepticism, some comedy, and of course, NPR's "Wait, wait...don't tell me" podcast. I'm in stitches over that one! Oh, and "Classic Tales", and some old-time horror classics, as well.

I do enjoy wdwtoday also, matt does a good job. I also enjoy inside the magic, its a very well put together show...more like a "TV" show experience.

I'll listen to wdw radio, beourguest podcast and a few others, but the DIS is on the day it comes out. The others are fillers when I'm stuck at my desk for long periods.

One thing to note regarding the podcast awards is that Lou begs that you go out & vote for his podcast. Something the DIS does not do which is one of the reasons they are my favorite. The other reason is the fact that the DIS is unbiased, Lou is not.
